Why do you think Louise does stairs like that? 🤔

If she had a single episode of slipping or falling (or nearly doing so) climbing *that* particular set of stairs, she may now prefer to "pull" herself upwards rather than pushing herself upwards (going from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive so to speak). In her mind, she wants to avoid a repeat of the previous bad experience, whatever that may be. This would explain why going up the other sets of stairs is still done the "regular" way.

Are they different brands? I tried to see, I see the backwards one softer then the frontwards one. The one she walks up normally looks firmer. As said by @bittyflea, she seems less sure of those stairs.

Switch stairs with one of your other stairs and see what happens.

Perhaps she can't distinguish the difference between the stairs from the floor because they are the same tone...there's no difference to her, so she can't judge them properly. Maybe switch the white stairs to the parquet floor to see if she still goes up backward.

About 3 months ago, I saved a chihuahua that had been dumped in my neighborhood. Probably by a backyard breeder that was done with her, as she has obviously been over bred. Took about 3 days for her to trust me. She bit the crap out of my finger when I caught her. She is now the sweetest little girl, and she is so happy. Her chi personality is finally coming out. I could not give her up as she is so bonded to me.

It's wonderful when people are willing to seek out and adopt older dogs. Kudos to these two! They are making three senior dogs feel very happy and contented, safe and secure. They set a great example for dog lovers everywhere!

it would make sense for many more people to adopt old dogs, given that many people aren't willing to provide enough physical exercise to a dog to meet a young dog's needs, and then get frustrated by hyperactive or destructive behaviour of the dog. old dogs match most people's lifestyle better. there are substantial downsides though, like the obviously shorter remaining lifespan (so if you keep adopting old dogs, you have way more deaths to deal with), and also the likely higher vet bills than in a dog's younger years.

I have a chihuahua named Lola! She’s not yet one year old. She only has one eye due to being attacked when she was probably only a few weeks old. We love her so much! My favorite thing is when we’re laying in bed and she runs up the stairs and instantly flies into the nook of my arm and flips onto her back. She LOVES to snuggle.

i love Louise. even her name is adorable! omg love that tongue....i rescued a 14 yr old chihuahua from HHS. when i went to get her i got to the counter and said, Hi , i am here to adopt Mimi. the girl's mouth dropped and she repeated Mimi? i said yes, and smiled. she almost started to cry cuz she told me that for as long as Mimi had been there. nobody had even asked to look at her. i am here to take her home....i went into the visitor room, and they brought her to me. i thought first i dont like her name. so i changed it to Mia. Mia and i then went into the boutique on site at HHS, and bought all new winter outifts including a raincoat. i paid the adoption fee, and drove my tiny girl home. got to love her for 4 1/2 yrs. before she was finally called to heaven. i am so in love with chihuahuas! Mia did that for me. my quirky, tiny girl was such a blessing. miss you tiny girl. xoxoxox mama

She's so sweet. BTW, at 0:58 the sound she makes sounds like what my vet calls a "backwards sneeze" which happens to many chihuahuas. It's an issue with the trachea being partially blocked or closed. My vet says that is not a real problem unless they have trouble breathing. So glad that you all have 3 rescues. It speaks to your humanity.

I got two senior rescue chihuahuas. I encourage people to rescue these old babies because they are just the sweetest things and luckily for me so far, they’re potty trained already.

What a cool story!! Her owner is so sweet!!😃 .... My husband is so against rings-- nose rings, etc. And tattoos.... But when you listen to this man talking about Louise?? He is just a normal man who loves his dogs and cats, and you would never have known he'd have a nose ring and tats!!.... Louise is blessed!😘

💪🐻❤️ Lois is avoiding knee pain. Very smart. The other stairs probably aren't as steep. So she doesn't have to backpedal. She needs to teach that move to physical therapists

Your girls are beautiful! I adopted my first little dog, Jack, a chihuahua/Min Pin mix. He’s about 9 yrs old now. I have 2 German Shepards and 3 cats, but Jack rules the household. He sounds like a rabid Tasmanian Devil if one of the big dogs step on him. But he is my cuddle bunny, and I am so glad we found each other.

'Back'stairs Louise - What a little cutie with that tongue hanging out of her mouth, too. She just needs a little white wig and a mini-cane and she's good to go! The other stairs seem to be firmer and wider, so she might feel more secure going forwards. Our little senior chihuahua mix goes down stairs like a slinky…and has since he was a puppy.

I have a rescue Chi, had all her teeth pulled, she had an abusive owner. Just found out she has Congestive heart failure. I’ve had her almost 2 yrs. She’s 11. Love her soo much ❤️. Your girls are so sweet, love Chi’s!!

Louise has great success going down the stairs head first and tail last. So she figures she ought to go tail first and head last to go up the stairs. Plluuusss, she gets praised for doing it. 😄🐕
