In this episode of our house build we get our house ready for the next concrete wall-pour. Finish the upstairs ICF blocks, put in all the door and window frames, foundation membrane (Blueskin) and backfill around the house!

I remember that blue hue. Nudura is an excellent product. We built our own home and workshop with ICF. And Wyoming winters are a joy with a super insulated house and shop. Glad I found your videos. Good luck with the build.

What a great way to construct a house. It is good to see you guys working so well and happily together. There are so many couples in You Tube building their own homes today. Also people of low income fighting to get laws changed so they can build within their means. Tiny homes on a small piece of land for instance. Looking forward to next video. John

I built seven homes in Philadelphia using ICF's....Amazing energy efficient! The house was so tight we had to make sure it got fresh air! Super warm and solid structures...great choice!

Your correct....wood has an (R) value of one per inch. So a 6"stick framed home has multiple thermal breaks every 16" with a R-value of seven If you also include the half inch for sheathing and sheet rock.... that's terrible. The only thermal breaks with ICF is the window and door bucks which are 10"-12" wide.

in scandinavia we build new houses with walls, and the add 2 ich or more outside but dont add the studs on top of the other so that there is allways insulation between studs and the outer wall to stop thermal breaks. some walls on new houses are 30cm/12 inches thick

Amazing progress on the house! Looks like Brandon had a little stress relief moment with the adhesive, and I lol during it, since I've been there and done that! Looking forward to more of the house build, and the concrete pour. I enjoy seeing you all interacting together, on whatever you're doing! Stay safe you all!

awesome job. I've watched many ICF build video and yours is the first build I see where you do not set-up the bracing system after row 3 or 4. Makes for an uncluttered workspace but I guess it means more latter work. I like the way you work, clean and methodical. Keep it up and hope you can dry in soon

The backfill was unfortunately something we couldn't get away from since we had to build up above the high water table, but definitely good for drainage, and we didn't;t film it but we put BigO all around and have it draining any water that comes up way out.

I have watched a few of the Man and Wife building there own houses and they all seem to have lost there sense of HUMOR. I watch Your show (and Red Poppy Ranch) because You as the lady of this, You have a great sense of Humor which makes the show more interesting. I was wondering if You have ever thought about a Monolithic Dome Home house? They are tornado and earth quake proof houses and if You do the concrete outside as well, they will not burn to the ground. Here in Texas tornados are a big problem and the people from Italy Texas have found a way to fight the nasty storms here in Texas, also when built You can heat them with a candle because they are also well insulated. Me I live in Amarillo, TX right on I-40 and about middle of the panhandle of Texas.

Hello Brandon and Careena, I have a question about the wood that you put around the windows. maybe is it idea when you put outside that window frame between the isolation plate a piece of wood of 4 x 7 cm, its the best way to keep wind and cold outside, between the concrete.
