What surprised me was, that even when you guys have paid 400 dollars for the trip, you still had to bring your own food (this is still kinda understandable though) and mainly, that you had to pay for shower. That 3 dollars is a fraction of 400, not even 1%. Surprises me that it is not included in a first class sleeper fare.
@TheBaldr
@TheBaldr 2 жыл бұрын
$400 is pretty cheap for first class sleeper train in Japan. It usually $1000-$10000US depending on the train. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a66Jfciq05iwaac.html

@@TheBaldr Me, thinking it might be cheaper to sleep on a train (or an overland bus) to save the costs of a night at a hotel: 😲 Thanks for sharing the video ^^.
@seigeengine
@seigeengine 2 жыл бұрын
I guess if you want to think of it in the other direction... this means that those who use the shower will be the ones paying, instead of spreading the cost over non-showering passengers as well?
@martinnovysedlak
@martinnovysedlak 2 жыл бұрын
@@seigeengine if the cost is actually 3 dollars (there might be a margin also in this amount!) I'm pretty sure the margin o n the ticket of 400 is huge enough to cover one shower. Anything on top of that would be ofc paid. Has nothing to do with non-showering passengers, they have to pay for their shower, once again assuming the real costs of a single shower is up to the 3 dollars (which probably is).
@seigeengine
@seigeengine 2 жыл бұрын
@@martinnovysedlak The point isn't that the cost is $3. The point is that the cost is being paid one way or the other. If you give someone a "free" right to use that shower, then you're really making them pay for the shower too, even if they don't use it, as otherwise you could charge them less. Also, that's not discussing the issue of having to include the functionality for the shower to acknowledge that people with certain tickets get to use the shower without paying.

I've always found Japanese train rides to be fascinating. I hope one day I'll get to ride one out. Wow, I'm glad you were able to show off the variety of trains...uh...rooms? available to ride on. Its really like a hotel on wheels bit of atmosphere. Might be dangerous, but I really do like the window scenery to show a bit of snow during the excursion. Thats hilarious how the ticket booth(?) was so nice and welcoming, then the conductor was really observing/judging you. Also, Hi Shun
