A selection of fast Driven Red Grouse shooting clips from 4 days filming at Coverhead, North Yorkshire, England in the 2019 season. Static cam and head cam shots. Some success, some misses and lots of Grouse action!
1000s of man hours go into managing the moor to produce a handful of shooting days each year. Moorland managed for Red Grouse protects many rare bird species giving them a place to breed and ongoing protection from some predators. Careful moorland management for Red Grouse delivers important eco system services by capturing carbon, protecting carbon stores from wild fire, filtering water run off and slowing peak water flows. Shooting only take place if summer counts reveal enough Grouse to leave a sustainable population the following year. We did not shoot in 2018 due to bad weather conditions reducing Red Grouse breeding success. 2019 was a much better brood rearing season. Here's hoping for another good year in 2020. Thank you to all the keepers, beaters, flankers, picking up dog handlers, suppliers and caterers that made the days possible. We could not do it with out you!
