A coverstitch machine is essential for the sewist looking to achieve a professional finish. The CoverPro® 1000CPX's innovative design is based on the marriage of an industrial-style cover hem machine and a convenient home machine. The resulting union has produced a high-speed, long arm, heavy-duty cover hem machine that looks and operates like a sewing machine. With a wide trip cover hem stitch, exclusive free arm configuration, and Janome's Seam Tightening System™ (STS), the 1000CPX is the most advanced Cover Hem machine available.

Pink Castle Fabrics is a family business started by Brenda and Jason in February of 2011. At the beginning, "warehouse" was located in the basement of our home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Brenda had just begun quilting, and had a hard time finding fabric she liked at prices that Jason liked. Pink Castle Fabrics opened their own brick and mortar location in June of 2013.
HUGE thank you to Pink Castle Fabrics for making these videos possible! I personally know Brenda and Jason - they are committed to offering you the best customer service no matter where you're located. I have the Janome 1000CPX also. For anyone suffering from skipped stitches, I highly recommend using wooly poly in the looper thread. It's magic. Interesting use of the chain stitch in conjunction w/the coverstitch. I can see myself doing that. As a relatively new 1000CPX owner, I appreciate any and all coverstitch videos.

Your videos are great. Maybe you will get intrigued with the the binder, the binder plate and then all the generic attachments. It is fun to see that someone else sees all the potential in this machine, and has the time/motivation to figure it out.

Ive got the blcs2 and use the chain stitch all the time for construction. That’s interesting that you use the looper tension at zero. I also think you mock flat Feld is genius.

I also have the Janome 1000CPX, I would love to see more instructional videos as I have not used it a whole lot as of yet. One suggestion though, could you please sew on something light colored for future demonstrations, and use contrasting thread? It would make it a lot easier to see your actual work. I appreciate your videos and love your love of sewing- it is inspirational! THX

Lovely video, thank you. My challenge is that with sheer, silky fabric, the two rows of stitches seem to pull together, sometimes even making a sort of tuck. Could it be the looper tension is too tight? Many thanks x

Understandable. I had to save up three years, then bought the machine and the binder plate all at once. I did wait until I got 40% off accessories. Then the other binders and attachments I have are generic.

So you're pulling and cutting your needle threads to tie off? If all three needles were threaded it would be all three strings? Hoping I'd catch what your tension and other settings were at, I'm getting those skips. 😬

Great tutorials. Did you know the other end of your needle threader has a hole for your needle to go in for easier inserting into the needle bar. This helps for way easier to tighten or loosen your needle. Hope this makes sense.

Are other presser feet common to the ones you talk about? i.e. The clear foot etc.
@SewingReport
@SewingReport 6 жыл бұрын
I recently tried out the clear guide foot and it works very well! The feet can get a little pricey, but that one is $50 and you can take the center guide off and just use it as a transparent foot.

What were your settings for the chain stitch please?
@SewingReport
@SewingReport 6 жыл бұрын
One needle (can do either left or right) - specific settings would really depend on the fabric you're using - but I believe I had it on the factory defaults. The manual on page 18 recommends setting needle thread at 3, looper tension at 2, but test out scraps first.

Do you have to trim the selvage after you hem? Seems like it would be hard to tell if your selvage is getting stitched or not.
@SewingReport
@SewingReport 5 жыл бұрын
No, I really didn't need to do that, I just lined up my hem to be in between or close to the edge of the stitching by holding it up to the machine before glue basting/pinning.

First ...love the hair, this length suits u a lot ! So does blue definitely yr color . Ok now I am a bit confused .. dumb question - why would u need a cover stitch machine if u have a serger pls ? And do u recommend this poly wolly thread for servers too ? Love yr videos x
@SewingReport
@SewingReport 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Most serger can't do top stitching and hemming like a coverstitch can. Sergers are for finishing raw seam edges, while coverstitch machines are used for hemming and say - topstitching jeans or garments along seam lines with a neat double or triple stitch. If your serger has the option to remove the knife, some are multi-function but most are not. I've heard wooly nylon or stretch thread is also great to use in the serger loopers as well - especially for rolled hems. I've been wanting to try that for quite a while but haven't done it yet.
@Aurora-uh9nk
@Aurora-uh9nk 7 жыл бұрын
Sewing Report yes I can dislocate the knife on my serger and I did try the rolled hemm using normal thread on very lightweight cotton it turned out beautiful . I want to start sewing stretch fabric (mainly jersey fabrics not Lycra ) and I am fussy about hems and seam finishes so do u think I should consider investing in a coverstich machine . Would love yr opinion pls 🤗 tks so much x

If you sew a lot of knits, or plan to, and a coverstitch machine is in your budget - I think you'd get a lot of use out of it.

Have you had any skip trouble on the Janome Cover Pro 1000CPX and if so how did you solve it?
@SewingReport
@SewingReport 4 жыл бұрын
It was a loaner from Pink Castle Fabrics, so I no longer have this machine. Didn't personally have trouble with skipped stitches, but have heard some others experienced that. Generally when sewing with thin or tricky knits, I prefer to use stretch needles and that helps not to skip.
