Spike was a dead man walking since the beginning of the series, both literally and metaphorically. He was always stuck in his past, not being able to follow his own advice, move on from it, and look at the future like his friends, which is ultimately what got him killed in the end. Him having his right eye closed/blinded (the eye that sees the present) represents how far gone he is at that point and how unable and/or unwilling he is to move on.
@princetchalla2441 Жыл бұрын
@@taco8077 damn, I always preferred Mugen without knowing why, but now I got an actual reason why I felt that way. Ironic that someone so lackadaisical like spike could save others from being trapped from their past like Faye, but couldn’t save himself.

Cowboy bebop is so clever in how it brings emotion out. When it's sad it usually isn't some drawn out emotional moment, it's more situational. Like when jet finally finds the man who took his arm, but it turned out it was his partner, or Faye getting her memories back only to find that there was nothing left, and spike finally taking viscous down, but dying in the process. It's not the scenes themselves that make you cry, it's the fact that all the characters find closure to their past, but none of them get a happy ending

What I liked about the scene with Spike telling the sister is that she doesn’t breakdown, nor get angry at him for not saving her brother, she just kindly and calmly asks him to leave, that’s a lot more different and powerful.
