Faye would annoy them and they would annoy her. When Ed and Ein came into the picture, Spike, Jet and Faye all were annoyed at the same person, Ed. Later on it seemed like Faye wasn't annoying them as much because Ed and Ein was getting on her nerves more and more. I think out of the three of them Faye spent more time with them on the ship, so the only person to talk with was her. Jet and Spike were going out more and more.

You want someone who is recognizable and a veteran to play the most important character. There are younger nobody actors out there that could play spike but John Cho being there just sells it to alot of people. He’s the most recognizable actor in the show. I agree he’s a little too old to play spike, but same thing for witcher, I don’t think Henry Cavill was a good cast as Geralt but people watched the show because of him. @cessare2467
@cessare2467 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. You can't express the same vastness and multicultural settings as you can with animation the same way. CGI/VFX can obviously show you immense shots of planets, the space, enormous cities, but it is CGI/VFX, the places where they fight look like sets that can't compare to a fight happening in the streets between Spike and other bounty hunters, terrorists, criminals in the anime and feeling natural and real within its universe. Animation can do things LAs can't do and the other way around. That's why most anime LA adaptations have not worked at all...

Being a generic Hollywood entertaining mediocre movie to me isn't a GREAT adaptation. It's a cliché Hollywood movie with unnecessarily gigantic eyes and generic lame "romance". I gotta say a big problem I saw was that the impact of hits and fight scenes seemed really half hearted, it felt like they were holding back/pulling their punches and looked like they were play fighting and just tapping things when they punched. Biggest example is the wooden training dummy scene and when Faye was trying to stab Spike.

I rewatched cowboy bebop a couple years ago and it was kind of surprising how much I forgot, but then it was great because it was like seeing the episodes all over again, brand new - and it was amazing. The teaser looks awful, the trailer as a whole looks better, but it looks like it's all a bunch of greenscreened mess - It's like they thought "this was a cartoon, so let's make it cartoon-y" Cowboy Bebop is one of the few Anime that could actually work as a live action show but you'd need to make it like "Breaking Bad in Space," basically.

Well to be fair, in the the Death Note case, it was the director who went in with the mentality he was going to create his own "take" on the mythos, he didn't want to create a 1 to 1 adaption. At least in this case they 'seem' to have at least tried, to recreate what made the anime what it was. I also can't really put too much blame on Netflix itself, considering that Anime is really hard to reproduce in a live action fashion. Even Japanese studios fail hard in doing it. The only one I've seen that was slightly okay was Gantz, and that's because it at least carried the vibes, as cheesy as it was. FMA, Bleach, etc....etc... Were all really bad.

People who defend the more modest looking Faye outfit forgets that's her character. As Joe pointed out, she uses her sexuality in all things. She knows she's hot and she owns that. The actress and cosplayers that Alex quotes as saying "got it perfect" literally pointed out why they can't have the OG outfit; in live action, that thing is held together by literal pieces of tape. Cosplayers, all they have to get it to function is for photosets and walking around a con floor. If Faye is going to be flipping, doing fight choreography, etc. that outfit would literally fall apart and be a wardrobe malfunction every take. There's no agenda, it's just practical.

They haven't even revealed who is cast to play Ed ffs, and the show comes out in just a few weeks... They're either pulling something like this, and want to avoid the inevitable onslaught of outrage that it would generate until the very last minute; or Ed either shows up at the very very end of the season (in an attempt to get people excited for season 2), or she's just not in this season at all...

@@ArmaHipHopTV I wrote too much... Don't mind ppl not reading the whole thing. But whatever. It should be done correctly and i wouldn't dare to say they are doing this show just for the $$$ without working with a team and cast who will try their best to do it amazingly, but imo CB is as it is. No sequels. There's no need of a LA imo. CB works in big part because of the animation. It does things that you can hardly do in live action. Even with CGI and VFX, it's definitely not the same. There are so many surreal moments, moments that straight up go against physics, some comedic some just for the sake of having a nice flow. That, you can't put it into a live action without looking out of place. That's a big difference. Realism won't always be what a show looks form in terms of pacing and CB has that pacing and flow in fights, super high-speed surreal races and chases in spaceships that can't be done realistically because you need the spaceship to follow realistic physics (though unknown) in space. You have to express the weight of the metal, the reaction to physics. In CB they prioritize the pacing of the scenes through animation.

I'm surprised Joe didn't mention Ghost In The Shell. This is a prime example where many good intentions and trying to cater to all peoples needs makes a cluster f*ck of a film. Like the old saying "too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the broth!" The big problem there was Hollywood was trying to bring GITS to a new audience and cater to the fans of the Anime as well as make a great film that will be enjoyable and sadly they failed. Bebop looks interesting and I do like the fact that Netflix did get help from Shinchiro Watanabe and managed to get Yoko Kanno to provide the OST. It certainly does give off full Bebop vibes. Maybe just maybe this could be the one that breaks the chain of terrible Anime live adaptations. The GITS live action's flaw was that the damned director didn't know what to stick to. It's as if the guy read the manga, watched the OG film, and looked at the Arise films all in one night before starting the project. And if that wasn't bad enough, he decided to put in his own little fanfiction, because god forbid directors set aside their ego and stay faithful to an existing work that'll forever be better than anything he could dream up.

I agree with joe. I really enjoy the OG and these trailers look awesome. The OG still exists and will always be exist, but I'm so excited to finally get more!

I think if they do a season 2 which I believe they will, Ed will show up then. She doesn't really show up in the series until episode 9 and Spike has his Vicious encounter in 5. Almost everything, aside from Mad Pierrot( he might be a cameo for later) and I think one other character seem to be following the first 8 episodes. Either way it looks really good and can't wait for it.

Spike is miscast too, real Spike is confident cocky guy, that kicks ass, and takes no bullshit. This fella - don't even know his name, from Harold and Kumar - just doesn't have the aura, or charisma. Meh. They're gonna trash it. Love animated Bebop, and watched it all. Skipping. Faye is just flaming feminist agenda on display again - *pukes*.

Idk man I think the actor for spike seems like he’s playing it a little too safe and monotone. Havent really gotten that carefree “whatever happens, happens” attitude from his performances in the trailers so far. But, the budget looks quality and while they switched up faye’s costume her and jet were cast perfectly for their personalities. Worst case scenario this is gonna make me wanna rewatch the OG bebop, which is never a bad thing.

Some things don't need a live action adaptation, Cowboy Bebop is one of them. Would have preferred a new anime movie, the one from 2001 was great.

As someone who's loved anime from age 5... I mean I've seen A LOT WORSE in terms of Anime Live Action. Bebop is very special to me, so this live action is kinda interesting. Like he said "the original series will always be there", so for me I don't think this will take that away from me. It definitely looks like they are trying and that's a big plus.

I kinda wished it was Keanu Reeves though as Spike. He did a really cool cosplay picture for the old project years ago. Would it be an adaptation of the animated movie or the animated series? I'm just I dont know, I like the stylised thing. I grew up on it and it's one of my fave sci fi anime series of all time including Psycho Pass. I do like Spikes ship though but yeah it seems like they are really trying and theres a lot of interesting things like Vicious. But I just hope it doesnt go the deathnote way.

It is a bonus to have the original director as a consultant and the original composer making tunes for the series. I am hyped!
