I think a tailgate awning would be the easiest for getting in and out, day or night. Of course, you could leave the awning at home sometimes and wild camp!

Lovely van for its age. A lot of people are putting those pop up tents on the roof. You could chill in that as well. Or buy a container for all your belongings to put on a roof rack. I commented on your last video. Redcote micro campers do all accessories for these micro campers. They have showrooms in a few areas. Nearest one for you would be Aylesbury. They do the black out stick on window covers, canopies, heaters. Ps, cushions are lovely. Beautiful covers. Cracking little vans. A lot of people are getting these vans for going on mini breaks. I could buy one.

I'm sure you can't sit up straight to the table with those cusions, despite them being so colourful... that will be a problem if the weather is drab when you're away. It's going to be very interesting to see if you are still so enthusiastic after your first week away with this set up? The Amdro and Campal cusions are a lot more comfy than you think, the foam is especially made for the job, to be less high, but still comfy, thus giving more head room to sit in, on those rainy days. Sorry to be so negative, but you are being very over confident about the whole idea before having done any Micro camping. Sometimes one has to be cruel to be kind. Just trying to be helpful in a kind way and also saying, saving money at the start is not always the answer to a happy camping experience later. Trust me, i'm speaking from experience... actally in most of your videos here, you'll find comments from me.
