I have a few tips as a fellow Berlingo camper owner. 1. We cook using the drawer, our cooker has metal guards to stop the wind which also helps to prevent the cushions from getting hot. This is not essential so I don't thunk you will have any issues cooking straight from the drawer. 2. We use our power station much more than the hook-up cable. We like the flexibility of wilder park ups. We had ideas about everything we would power e.g. heating, kettle and lighting. In reality, all we use electricity for is to charge devices and our USB ceiling light, occasionally our travel kettle if its wet outside. We find electric isnt all that important, unless you are powering the heating or a fridge, both of which we manage without using. We try and buy fresh things daily as we found coolbox useless unless using mains power to keep it properly cold. 3. If using campsites we use a tiny mini radiator in winter to keep the van warm, if off-grid we use a small fan heater intermittently and we just wrap up more. 4. In winter, we feel it's important to use insulated blinds to keep the van warmer. Either make these or buy. 5. We find one of the most important things to think about is storage! DStorage accessible from then you are actually inside the van, somewhere to store clothes, phones, items you really need top hand. We installed netting above the drivers and passenger seat. This is the best advise i can give you. When its cold or raining, you want to minimise how often you are getting in and out the van. 6. In really bad weather, we will fold down the table to give us more space, and cook inside as out back window opens. We remove the cushion on one side of the back door and use it as a place to put the cooker, being cautious of emissions and fabrics/flammable things close. 7. We started with our van packing lots of things we might need, i say really think about if you will use it. With two people in a small space it can get chaotic without well thought out storage options. 8.Think about bedding that is warm but also quick to pack away. We use a thick cotton double sleeping bag. 9. The cable for the mains will actually go out the bottom of the boot opening and fully close, without damaging the wire. hope these tips are useful! 😁😃

Hi, just read your brilliant advice. I’m currently looking to sell my car and buy a Berlingo which will double as my everyday runaround and a micro camper for myself and my husband. This is really useful information 😊

Also you can buy rear tents that attach over the hatch....they keep the wind and rain off whilst making a brew!

Enjoyed this, I like your enthusiasm. We have 2018 Berlingo, I remove the back seats and have replaced the with some robust plastic boxes I bought from eBay, they fit exactly and give us loads of storage. The bed just goes.on top, I think your jackery will come.in handy usually it's cheaper without a hookup and sometimes there are non available or the better pitch doesn't have a hookup. Keep up the good work. We have a freezer box, plugs into the cigarette lighter with ice blocks, basically we take a 2 or 3 frozen meals with us and they'll be fine defrosting very slowly over the 3 day. Enjoy Berlingo life.

In terms of storage I have attached some netted pockets to my window blinds and also have a net stretching over the internal roof bars and a roof box now have ample storage.

I remember my first weekend with the camper..., so many new impressions and experiences and new things to cope with, I was completely knackered from the constant adrenalin rushes and all the thinking, adjusting, redoing and wondering if... etc. that sleep fell by the wayside.

Compressor type fridge less power hungry and if you have a gas cylinder you should have a gas locker with a drop out vent in the floor. I have a sp,it charge relay, which charges the leisure battery and a suitcase solar panel kit

I’ve got a very similar setup in my NV200, I’d suggest buying wind deflectors for when you crack the windows to feed your hook up. Also your fridge will drain your Jackery pretty fast and doesn’t hold its temp well. We’ve just bought an 18L car fridge that we run off our Delta 2 and extra battery. It’s a lot more efficient and works brilliantly. Where did you get your cushions from?

We used to leave all our cooking and eating items in our micro camper. We had wind deflectors on our front windows and put our electric cable through the window and wound them up and left a small gap. We had a much bigger portable fridge with wheels from Halfords which we still use occasionally. Electric power packs are the future we have a 600w and use it when off grid. Hope this helps. Take care Gill

ah great! thank you that helps loads 😊, especially the tip with the wind deflectors 👌 I think we should have got a bigger fridge. We will learn lots from our first trip out I think

The burner can stay in situ mate you just need a heat shield against the side of it. Also just be carefull with weight. I built my own pod the same style as yours out of 18mm ply it weighs a tonne!!

As you've it set up at the moment, at the beginning of March it's still cold at night, so you're gonna feel the cold, as well as want some privacy with all that glass around you. You need to make some window shaped carton cut outs, then with pliable isolating material of some sort, the same size as the cartons, put the iso material on the corresponding cardboard and cover with cloth and sew together, that'll give you both the privacy and a little more warmth at night. An easy but fiddly thing to create, but that is saving you money if you're watching the pennies. Your biggest problem will be the roof glass..., any generated heat will rise and dissappear through that glass, or even start dripping condensation water on ya!. Don't forget to leave a tiny gap open on your two front windows, or everything will be damp in the morning from condensation, (remember how it used to be wiv ya girlfriend while saying those very long good nights sat in the car outside her house on a Saturday night, or was it early Sunday morning?) The windows will all be misted up anyway, until you have proper ventilation. Anyway, that was how I attempted to sort it out when I started. I now have the professional window covers from Campal, tailor-made for my van. Link: campal.co.uk/vehicle-thermal-window-blinds

Great video, some belting ideas 👍 We're in the same boat, total newbies and are doing exactly the same, with a Partner. I've made my own base for the back, using 8 supermarket home delivery baskets with plywood lids, which fit perfectly! Very sturdy & very spacious with loads of storage space. Was going to go for an airbed, but you may have changed my mind to cushions 🤔 Good luck on your maiden voyage, hope you have a great time 🤞

i can't imagine sitting in there with so little leg room... you might be better off removing the table and just having the bed to relax on.. might be a lot more comfortable.. might be easier to move around or get in and out.. can slide to either end easy... each have a side.. maybe add some 6" boards along the windows as little end tables.. maybe cut some hole into it to hold an insulated tumbler or mug.. maybe make them long 6" square boxes.. have drink holders and some boxes for storage.. flashlight, phone, battery bank, scissors, multi-tool... maybe the space under the table can store fridge with soda or water and jackery next to it for power... might want to get a cooler with ice to store food.. maybe leave it on passenger seat.. plus you could probably rest a food container or bowl on the 6" end tables.. probably eat holding the bowls or containers when forced to eat inside.. most of time probably eat outside at folding table or from container in a chair.. I'd also just have one color covers to see any bugs crawling around easy.. oh ya maybe a mosquito net for the back to leave back open.. maybe a tiny fan.. anyways just my thoughts..

Ah! Sarah my wife is the other Brummie. She is saving herself for our trips away for the moment 😊...Maybe I missed sharing the whole back seat saga!! I put the back seats back in as they didn't need to be taken out in the end, we got all paranoid about the insurance. Also, We have 3 poodles so they can go on the back seat when we use the van on a daily.

as you freely admit you don't know much about micro (mechanics) campers and all the equipment. It might be an idea to ask subscribers for some advice before going ahead and purchasing items.
