The amazing thing is hearing these stories from my grandparents, getting to see these legends of the steel is another different level.

It's whistle sounds like a deeper tone of the Qj locomotives whistles. Still don't know why she has 2 whistles.

Ah, so here is the story. The locomotive was originally just equipped with it's deep 6-chime when it was restored back in 2001. But regulations from officials concluded that the 6-chime was too quiet at higher speeds. As such instead of removing the 6-chime they placed on 2816, because it's original whistle was a CP 5-Chime that was too worn down for the engine to use, they used a CP Selkirk 2-10-4 5-chime and that has become the more primary whistle that the crew uses. As you can see in this video, it's effectiveness is really showing just by the echo alone.

@@kazanu23 really? I read somewhere that the whistle close to the cab(next to the bell) was loud and the small one next to the smoke stack was more easier.

@nolanphilp7553 it does seem like that. By all means, ask other people, especially people who know the history of engines like 2816 more. That's just the intel I've gathered from other people who've spoken about 2816's history.

@@kazanu23I just like information that’s accurate online. I do happen to know a few people who have worked on 2816 over the years.

@@STHSIndustries2K6Does not matter. Reporting mark of the locomotive is CP. If you saw a CP Gevo in person, it wouldnt be “CPKC 9843” but rather “CP 9843”. Reporting marks on locomotives have not changed. Or heres another way to take it. All of BNSF’s BN painted units have BNSF lettering somewhere on them. This is because they are not under the BN reporting mark anymore

if it is a no train horn zone, you are exempt if it is a whistle.

Looking like it’s actually pulling the train in this video most of the ones going down the main track looks very much like it’s being pushed by the diesel’s and it just has enough steam to blow the whistle
