Front loaded Bird rights max of 72m WITH player option for last 2 years. He'd be betting on himself. Winning chip with his good friends - in New York - as Starting Center - He'll be looking at OG $ in 2 years and make back way more than signing 4 x 25m elsewhere now

Can still resign Achiuwa for the 4 spot if he is willing to take less than 6m option. Also, Knicks drafted Kevin McCullar and 7’0 Ariel Hukporti who is 22 yrs old and MVP once in German league

This will be Julius’ last season in a Knick uniform. With the new CBA kicking in, budget will be tight & we will need the flexibility. As for backup center options, GO GET JAMES WISEMAN!!! He still has a lot of upside for only 23 years of age. He was the #1 prospect for a reason. Hes a great insurance policy, if we lose Ihart

@@user-nvd-999-ai-11 he’s been in the league 4 years. He took 2 years recovering properly from his right meniscus tear. If IHart decides to leave NY then i think his career will pretty much be done soon after. Hes only who he is now because we made him into that with our system and play style. Before us he wasnt worth much and after us he will remain that. I say let him walk. I would prefer Aleksej Pokusevski to come off the bench behind Mitch than most big men available in the league

If Drummond signs then Thibs and team will definitely have him improve his play on defense. If everyone is locked in on D, then his defensive intensity and game has to step up. Cheaper alternative and Robinson is still the starter where Drummond playing less minutes as back up

Jalen Smith is 6’9 and Knicks need is a C with size. Need a C to counter Embiid, Turner, Porzingis and other Cs in EC as well as WC. Not ideal to go small at 6’9 and get bully like the Pacers have shown in playoffs with Turner and Siakam bullying the Knicks size depth

Drummond would be better option at 6’11, 30 yrs old, good rebounder like IHart, can score and cheaper at 3m. If IHart leaves for more money then Robinson would start and Drummond would be the back up. Also, Knicks still have Sims who is not as good as Drummond but he should improve his game this summer. In addition, they drafted a 7 foot center in 2nd round Ariel Hukporti who is WIP but he was an MVP once and at 22 yrs old is insurance for IHart leaving. The 5 spot does not need a lot of offense as starting five has multiple scoring threats. Just need a big able body to counter bigs on other team. If Knicks do resign IHart, he definitely does make Knicks starting 5 much more lethal

I just dont think hes a better fit than Mitch. The way Embiid abused him in that series, then went and struggled against Mitch, doesnt make me comfortable with him being our starter. Mitch needs to start even if they are soon to bring in IHart behind him. Mitch is just so much better defensively and at grabbing offensive boards. IHart fits better with the second unit.
