Setting Goals For Yourself and Referring back to those Goals through the Year
yo yo yo CPA strength here back again with another video I want to talk about making goals for New Year's New Year's is coming up uh in a few weeks here and I'm just leaving the gym my vibrations are high I hit the gym from 5: to 6:00 in the morning Monday through Friday right now but anyways I wanted to talk about New Year's resolutions and you know some people make them some people think they're worthless and you should start right now um I mean it goes a long way you know a lot of people especially with the gym they make a New Year's resolution and then they don't you know the gyms are packed for a few weeks and then they lose it but I never made New Year's resolutions before and I was going to a uh Court I guess like a court order uh therapy sessions or something and you know it was around the holidays and the the instructor guy the therapist dude was saying that you know every every New Year's Eve him and him and his wife they write down the goals for the next year and then when the next year comes around the next New Year's Eve comes around they would look at their goals that they made for the previous year and you know see how they did and reflect on the year and make new goals for the next year and I mean at the time I W that was like I don't know I just I thought that was a decent idea for me so I had never heard about anything like that this was um I believe the first year I've done I did this was like 2013 maybe 10 10 years ago 10 11 years ago and at that time the idea of making goals was so foreign to me uh I mean really the only goal the only purpose I had in life was to you know very hedonistic to to to make myself try to feel good with basically uh drug use or sex and it really it always left me feeling so depleted um so anyway so I got the idea of making goals and I've been doing that every New Year's for 10 years and I love it and I just I'm putting this uh video out here so you can maybe maybe it'll resonate with somebody and they've never even thought of this cuz I never thought of that but this New Year's Eve make goals for the year I'm not even going to I'm not going to tell you what like my goals are I usually have about probably I don't know eight goals for the year but maybe make five to 10 goals however many goals you want I'm not going to say any of my goals to dissuade you you know like so you can have my goals or it's it's kind it's personal to me you know but I don't want to disuade you be like Oh I'm going to have the same goals or his goals are stupid or whatever I don't want to dissuade you for your goals so you write down um and I do it in my my notes section but you write down your goals for the next year
so I would start so it's 2023 right now I would start with how was your 2023 how was your 2023 then I would make goals for 2024 now the cool part that I really like about this is I tend to and it's for the whole year so I I tend to you know in April May June July the middle of the year uh you know I I feel lost I feel like I'm not doing anything with my life I look at the goals I made for the year and that's what I'm supposed to be doing am I hitting those goals because I'm like oh I never I never know what I'm supposed to be doing for the year so I I look back at those goals for the past year and I say well damn I'm I'm hitting this goal I'm hitting this goal I did this I'm doing this wait I'm not doing this this is what I should be focusing on CU this is what was important to me when I was thinking as the year as a whole and you know not to shift all over the place like switch my goals all over the place so I have a certain like eight goals for eight goals for the year or something like that and I will reflect on those all the time during the year I'll look at my goals cuz I feel lost during the year and then I'll say hey man you're doing pretty good for the
year um also I I don't know it's like I mean we live in a a calendar basis you know I mean I do tax returns it's it's it's annual I mean so many things is annual I mean you write the date down all the time you say the date it's it's an annual thing it's 365 days a year so I like to make goals for the
year um and it just really helped me it just really made New Year's Eve New Year's very special so you know you're going to do that the first the first year and then the next year you're going to you know I usually go through and I and I put like a green a green check or a red X did I hit my goals did I not hit my goals how was my year what do I want for next year and then I make new goals for the next year and I really think that's a a nice way to me it made New Year's Eve more than just getting
