I think i need to spend some more money and buy some decent watercolour paper. I do use watercolor paper but its only cheap and it wrinkles and i get blotches when it gets wet. Thank you Chris you have given me the courage to add people for the first time. I’ve been painting for several years in acrylics and working in or trying to work in watercolour for just a couple of years. You are right watercolour is hard but so worth the struggle! I didn’t draw until I started using watercolours and it’s taken me two years to finally believe in myself - thanks to watching your videos and hearing your encouraging voice. Now I only use watercolours and to my surprise I can draw and love it. So if anyone out there is struggling - keep at it and listen to Chris’s wise words! Thank you again and keep helping us. Your videos are invaluable to me and I imagine to many others.

This is my first tutorial of yours and I loved it! I felt so frustrated by other tutorials that went too fast, never explained anything, etc. This was the perfect speed, and I was not tempted to quit even once! I'll be watching all of your tutorials from now on!!

Hello Chris. I am not sure if you will see this comment. I've been watching a lot of watter color - beginner videos online in the last couple of months. I was always considering to give it a try as it appears to be something that I could use to make decent paintings and make a new hobby out of it. I was never too good at urban sketching, so I often felt discouraged, but I can draw a couple of squares, so this video convinnced me to invest in the material and try it out. Thank you!

Another teaching video that ROCKS!!! So many great tidbits. I really enjoy these videos and lectures. It's been brilliant to see how one can expand on a simple design. Thanks to your teaching, I have been able to use your base image, and been confident to add more things to the scene. This time I added a tree on the left, mountains on the right in the distance.I even put in a sailboat!!!! I have to say, this has been the BEST ART THERAPY. I have so enjoyed find myself actually "NEEDING", to create something every day. Either a painting or a drawing, I spend at least one hour creating. Damn the TV!!!! The best thing of all thanks to these extreme beginners series, is that I feel really great about creating real images from my minds eye. That has never happened. I would like to ask.... maybe, you can do somethings in the realm of Mountains/Trees like in the Adirondacks in NY. I need to learn conifers, perhaps you can do an EXTREME teaching on those. I know you did one once before, though perhaps we can revisit the mountains. As the snow begins to melt, the bring extreme beauty!!!!😉🤫 Thanks CHRIS for all you do, these have been so much FUN!!!!

Thanks for this video. I followed a long and learned a lot. Probably the most important thing though is your reminder to not expect too much too fast. Practise more, judge less. Watercolour is such a difficult medium, but so beautiful and so rewarding…oh, and the carrot people, gonna try and remember that for my urban sketching.

Wonderful, simple and crisp. I tend to overwork my paintings... I often end up with too much detail and also mix 'tight' and 'loose' in one painting. Gosh that looks weird... Thanks for showing us how it can be done..

I would like to know, do you use the smooth side of the paper sheet or the grainy one. Sincerely.

Question. Loved doing this BUT my green area looks like a big sploge..I also did the palm tree today in where you did the two types of painting..again rather than a sense of space between branches etc just one joined up splodge. Any tips???
