This really looks just like a scene recorded in the steam era.. Three live CP engines meeting in one spot. It only would've been better if the SSR engines had been done back up into their CP lettering.

Very much agreed, definitely seems to be a call back to when it seemed steam was going nowhere anytime soon.

Awesome video of that historic meet. I hope one day we get another meet like this with either 2816 or the Royal Hudson at South Simcoe. Only time will tell.

And 2816 has been out of service since around 2014 but is being restored by CP to make the run from Calgary AB to Mexico City as a celebration of the CP-KCS merger.

Your wish is coming closer by the day. With CPKC merger 2816 (fully restored with PTC will be leading a Corp trip (only) south from Calgary to Mexico very soon.

It might work with South Simcoe's whistles, especially with those sounds being used for movies. We might need to make more whistles for a movie like this.

You kind of wonder. Was steam made to change the world of traveling and delivering? Or steam was made to show how a man made object has so much spirit and it's a living animal made outta iron? Its amazing how something humans made with their bare hands can be close to a living animal! It's a machine that has personally and emotions. The creator of the railway series saw it all through his life and it's why we have thomas in this world. Seeing this video pulls a heart string, old friends seeing each other after many years! Long live the iron beasts!

although i wasnt around during the days of steam i was however the young age of 2 when this happened, if i was there to see it i wouldnt remember it but the south simcoe RR was close to where i lived and used to go there all the time to see the steam locos, a time that is long forgotten to most and a distant memory to some lives on in these preservation lines.. it brings back the feeling of time long gone aswell of the smell of smoke and the sounds of the whistle and bell for children who like me weren't able to experience steam in its hayday.

+Michael Harris thanks. When will 1057 be restored
@thebrantfordrailfan6 жыл бұрын
There is no set date for 1057's return. I was told by a volunteer that 1057 needs a complete firebox replacement, which is very expensive and time consuming. Not to mention it would be more expensive to run and that's why it was less popular than 136. So at this point, it's gonna be a VERY long time before it might steam again, several years to say the least
