Crabbing off piers in the Pacific Northwest is a hoot. Dungeness crab is pricey these days, so a nice haul offsets the cost of the trip a bit. Washington, Oregon, and California, all seem to have similar regulations and similar crab: male Dungeness of a certain size, under a limit, and red rock crab of any size, male or female, up to a very high limit. The red rock crabs taste great, but you have to catch the big ones to get enough meat from them.

We just halve and clean them and add them to the seafood boil, then throw it all together with sausage, muscles shrimp crab corn onion and capsicum on the grill plate, toss it about and smother in garlic and Cajun seasoning with garlic seafood sauce and eat it all together...... it just isn't the same without them little crabs, believe me!
