Survivor. Warrior. Worthy. Highly intelligent - probably would score high on an IQ test. Whenever he got sensitive, I sensed intense grief. Probably suffers from CPTSD stemming from his traumatic upbringing , being abandoned & experiences while living vulnerably out in the open. Since he mentioned dopamine, he might be interested in learning more about seratonine too (another feel-good nuerotransmitter/chemical messenger) and how our brain (engine) processes, responds, regulates. These might interest him too: Oxytocin, Endorphins, noradrenaline, glutamate, GABA, testosterone, prolactin, adrenaline, cortisol, thyroid hormones, CRH, catecholamines, vasopressin, etc Knowledge is power. Ideas of things to replace addictions with: Water, walks, sunshine, learning/growing, gratefulness, brain-teaser puzzles (sudoku, crosswords, word search, etc)

It’s so sad & unfortunate he never experienced love as a child & didn’t have stability. Obviously he’s an intelligent man - with so much potential!!! And I can see he is a good man deep down & has a big heart & it pains him to hurt others in any way. He’s clearly dealing with a great amount of emotional pain & depression - which is really weighting him down & I think it’s part of why he’s still living on the streets PLUS he has _no one_ to turn to to help get him back on his feet, it’s evident he truly wants to try & get away from this lifestyle he’s been living for 10+ years. And seemingly he was able to keep getting work of some sort until the law took his truck with everything he owned to help him make a living (which it does seem he got F’d over, at least with the parole situation) & then with all his tools being stolen he was forced to become homeless…. He’s been through SO much to still be alive & managing to get by the best he can. I’m going to pray for Quinn that he’s able to somehow find his way out of the life he’s been living for far too long (& seemingly has ended up where he is partially because those in authority F’d him over.) Ultimately, I pray he finds some sense of peace after all he’s endured…. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

I say once more.. Addiction is the stealer of dreams and the shackle from freedom; A smiling monster that makes you feel safe and loved when you are anything but. If only these poor people could break free.

It can be rough man. Alcohol addiction in high doses is just as rough as any other addiction. You can beat it though. I have a family member who's a VERY successful person, but has gotten addicted to alcohol in the last few years. It has been the worst few years of their life, and everything is going downhill in a bad way. Me and my family are doing anything we can to help him, but he doesn't really want to go to rehab. He's going through withdrawal and is trying to slowly drink less and less day by day as of now to quit. Alcohol is tough man, i'll be rooting for you to get through it, and I know you definitely can. That was my thought too. He's a really decent guy who deserves a break and seems to want it (more than others). Loosing your job/vocation due to health issues is mentally and practically devastating, it shouldn't be underestimated. Even more so when you can't rely on family. This happened to me about 8 years ago, it totally changed my life. Similar story with asking someone in a similar situation, how can you do this for so long, 8 years later, I'm like that for so long. When you loose one essential thing, often things start to fall like dominoes and it takes longer than you ever imagine to try to pull yourself back up.

He is one of the saddest to me because if a few things were different (as opposed to some other others where their either mental illness or just too many bad thing happened can’t excape this )and he was able to stick to his goals he would be able to survive. And now he is too old to really work anymore and hope may be lost. So sad.

I pray for Quinn. He's his worst enemy. Such a shame as he's articulate, self-aware and kind, heartbreaking

Even moreso, he knows he's his own worst enemy. His self-reflection and breakdown at the end of the interview underscores what impacts so many addicts - until they want to change, and do change, they will never change. He says it himself - he wants to get out of the lifestyle but enjoys it too much - looking for trouble, the feeling when you're under the influence etc. Good vibes his way, hopefully he is able to use what's left of his family structure - his sister, specifically - to get clean, get well, and become a productive member of society again.

"He's his worst enemy" No he's not, his enemies are his parents and a goverment that only serves the rich. The fact that he's still alive means this man is a surviver.

I'm 42 now. Still battling the emotions of hating my mom. Every once in a while, I'll get so drunk I'll text her how much I hate her. Haven't heard anything back.. I'm sure nobody cares. Just putting it out there. Hope everyone has a blessed day * The part about straight A's, and never getting a hug is what got me

I’m sorry you have to go through this. You deserve meaningful relationships and I hope you create some and eventually don’t even think about her when drunk. Parents often don’t realize the power they have on their children’s lives. 😢❤

He is one of the few in here that doesn't seem to put the blame on someone or something else for his situation. He sounds like he takes the full responsibility even though he definitely could out some of it on his upbringing or the super bad luck he has had. This makes me think he has a glimmer of hope to get out. I hope the right tools come along to give him that chance. Also at one point when he was talking about his ex wife he said "she had been married before and had a child and he had had many" I kept wondering what that story is. Does he have a lot of kids etc and if so what happened there. This is one I'd like to see a follow up on. Good luck sir. I hooe you manage to take the steps to turn things around. ❤

This guy reminds me of my brother. "Something" always happens that he can't get things done, its always someone elses fault, or someone else made a "mistake". Something was stolen or destroyed. Even the direction he looks when he lies is the same. My brother hasn't been caught doing drugs or alcohol for over 12 years now, but he still lies like yesterday. They is something destroyed in a brain after doing enough meth (and most other drugs) that can never be rebuilt to normal. Damaged goods, unfixable. FUBARed. I hope he is ok without hurting anyone else in his future.
