I have oft said a good cook is a messy cook....I do believe crafters and all other artists at heart dig into their hobby and get lost in it....which in turn may result in some passionate chaos... All good things must come to an end...a clear out makes it more possible to begin again.

To be honest, I was so stressed, when I would watch your sweet video's, because my own craft space is always messy. I always tend to judge myself against others, and I always come up short. I so appreciate you, being honest with all of us. Thank you. Thank you. My craft room is in my basement, and I only have flourescant lighting. This is encouraging. I have large size tin cans that I covered in pretty paper, for storing my pens and cutters.

Aspects of your videos that i LOVE: the quality of the video itself. It’s as if I’m watching a TV show, so maybe production value? Your voice and accent. Just lovely and soothing. Your encouragement to be positive while still being realistic. Seeing all of you occasionally, not just your hands. Your tutorials are easy to follow even if the project is a bit complex. Your art style. It is delightful to watch you create. You mainly use original items, not digitals (although who doesn’t love a Tracy label!) I think this sets you apart from many creators. Hope you are well. I just wanted to pop in to say hi and let you know you are missed.💙

Mom used to clean house from top to bottom to start the new year .....in keeping with this tradition, the last time I cleared my desk.....the last 2 days of 2022!! Since retiring we downsized to a much smaller house......cleanup time is 1/2 hour.....deep cleaning 1 hr per room (dusting etc ) BUT our home is opened so as soon as you walk in you see the dining room, kitchen and living room so the kitchen dining area is cleared as soon as a meal is over - and the stove is cleaned off so there is nothing that hangs out. Besides in the morning after 1/2 hour - spent dusting the floors gives me more time to craft!! Just spent the week cleaning one room a week and the basement. Now the year may continue cleanly!! LOL!! Love that fancy light!!!"

INSTEAD of going on My mobile phone- i woke up yesterday with an action plan, spent a few mins tidying up my Art Craft desk. Desk is covered with free Wallpaper samples. The energy of that space changed, more pleasant. After I threw AWAY many boxes n empty bottles- cleared floor space, felt SO much better. Books went on the shelves where they belong, footwear in boxes, pens n 1 pot- will do more clearing tomorow- 04:39- produced some wonderful pieces of images using stamps on the dining table downstairs. Calling it a night. Fairwell.

Hi Joie, I’m up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep for various reasons, so I tuned into your video. Usually in these situations I work on my journals and generally potter about in my craft room until I’m ready to go back to bed, but tonight I felt totally overwhelmed with all the projects I’m trying to do. Just to say thankyou so much for sharing this video, your relaxing voice and unhurried approach have really cleared my mind and I now feel ready to tackle things in a calmer and more organised way. As much as I try to be neater when I craft I find it almost impossible because that's my ideas come flooding into my head I'm not so good at cleaning up as I go. I do try to tidy up each night before I go to bed or when I know I'm done crafting for the day. But some days I don't have the energy to do that. I appreciate your vulnerability with us. I also have a bad habit of putting pieces of tape on the edge of my table. I got a beautiful new glass mat for my table top and it is helping me

Jo this is so timely, I’ve just cleared my desk of all the Christmas stuff with still some papers as I will want to do some scrapbooking. I often find myself crafting in a tiny space directly in front of me because I just want to get on with another idea and not stop to clear up. I love your idea of putting completed journals on your desk for inspiration. I do stop sometimes to go search for inspiration so your idea will be very helpful. I’ve just started using zip pouches to store a variety of thing and that is helpful too. Thanks for baring your soul😊!

I love having a clean desk. Sadly, it never lasts long because while cleaning it I start noticing all the pretty things I can create with and dive right back in to crafting! Love the suggestions, my only issue is I have too much stuff to organize anywhere it doesn't fit into my house. I went from having not enough supplies to having too much now I feel overwhelmed when I try to downsize. I use a dish washer cutlery caddy for my tools and old tetra milk cartons washed with the top cut off as a pen tub, it works for me

Very encouraging and you offer so many solutions. Now maybe I will feel less guilty when I pick up the same thing over and over. Just put it in a box and don’t fret. It doesn’t all have to be decided at once. I can carry a layer of stuff around until I can’t decide where to unload it! Love your videos.

I replied to Gayle's video and asked her "how can I create in my chaos when you are cleaning up??!!!!" I finished my piece of ephemera and then, yes, I cleaned up. It looks better but it will only last about 3 minutes when i begin creating again!!!!

No desk at the moment like yours so I’m always cleaning off my card table when it’s full of everything when working on a journal it can be messy & overwhelming but I do take the time to clear things not needed anymore. Just getting back to making journals my Mother passed December 16th, 2022, & all focus was gone but day by day I’m working on journals again! Thanks for sharing this video. I have to admit that I can only be creative when I am surrounded by mess, when I finish for the day I tidy my work area up and put everything away in their own place but when I come back I have to get it all back out again and get creative 😂

Lol yes, crafting is very messy. I'm currently half way through my huge January sort out (absolutely everything including moving furniture🙈). It's essential as it clears my head too and I rediscover supplies I've forgotten about. I'm addicted to baskets and sweet jars and hanging hooks beneath my shelves 🙊. I actually hang my snippets, it's easier for me. You're right, it's the variety of stuff we 'need'. My nemesis is 'misc' 😱. Lol my scraps baskets look like yours🙊 maybe it's a universal fact, therefore not to feel bad about😄. Lol that's your 'Ron' box, for lateRon' 🙊, probably another universal. Yes, transparent wallets are handy! I call unfinished WIP (work in progress). Oh I've seen that light but I bought ring lights mainly because the have a camera/phone holder to combat shaking hands. Lol plastic plants are really good these days, I thought yours were real 😄. 👏👏👏 well done, it feels so good once it's organised albeit temporarily🙊. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖

Good time of year to do a clean up but also a clean out. If say one day I get 4 envelopes to recycle. I keep 2 and let go of 2.

I have to use my dining table which is in my lounge. I don't tend to use the table to eat at, so my stuff tends to sit there until I can't stand seeing the mess ( takes a while). I would love a separate room to craft, but wonder what state that would end up being if I could just shut the door on it all. Also for myself my finished projects have no onward journey. I only occasionally give stuff away, and I don't sell anything, so it can be a bit of a hoarding situation. Thank you for all your inspiration.

Lemme see 🤔... When did I last empty my desk 🤔🫣... Umm, 😳😳😣😣 yeah🥺😔... So Joie!! How's the family? On a much lighter note... I purchased some big girl water color paints cuz my lack of skill coupled with paints from the dollar store left me with a *blah* and lifeless mess... now I have a lovely highly pigmented mess that looks great torn to pieces and put into collage and I sincerely thank YOU for that! Well what about those of us who knit, stitch, slow stitch etc etc etc…. My whole room is carnage. And then if I do a tidy up I can’t find things I need. Hubby keeps on about stuff but it’s difficult to contain everything. I am totally overwhelmed by feelings of guilt but some of my things go back a long way and I still use them. I do enjoy my belongings. So just as you say, it’s the variety of things we all have. Or that I have.

I like that your craft space is not perfectly clean and all white Ikea furniture! Those rooms, while certainly nice and attractive, would not inspire me to create like your space does. My "organization" is much like your style. I appreciate seeing a workable system that constantly evolves and doesn't require a lot of expensive containers and bins. 😍

I make such a mess when I'm creating! It's good to know that some of my favorite KZfaqrs are just as messy at times. It makes me feel better. Thanks for sharing/creating this video. Also, I'm glad you mentioned the new light from Serious Readers because I have a vision impairment and need good lighting. I'm going to check this out.
