🔥 Crafting Precious Memories: Turning Stainless Steel Rings 🔥
Hey there, fellow makers and memory keepers! 🛠️✨ In today’s video, I dive into a heartwarming project-one that’s close to my heart. These rings aren’t just metal; they’re vessels for cherished moments and dearly departed loved ones. Let’s get into the details:
The Rings with a Story:
These rings hold the names and dates of two incredible souls:
Rodger Hilton Naylor (18/11/1960-28/12/2019)
Elsie Freda Carr (21/01/1940-02/01/2013)
May these rings evoke beautiful memories and honor their legacies.
Crafting Process:
Turning these rings was a joy. I used a lathe, but guess what? You can create your own using basic tools and sandpaper.
Safety first! Remember to wear a high-quality dust mask while sanding. I trust my JSP Force 8 Half-Mask with PressToCheck P3 Filters to keep me breathing clean air.
The ring blanks are made from top-notch stainless steel, and their rounded core ensures comfort.
Materials and Tools:
Axminster Craft AC305WL Woodturning Lathe (Check out my video on it: here)
Full-face shield for protection
Robert Sorby's sovereign parting tool
Stainless steel ring blanks
3 Adhesives (Thick, Thin CA, and Activator)
Abranet Sanding mesh (120g)
Sandpaper (240g, 400g)
Sanding paste
Pearl-ex pigment for that extra flair
Nitrile examining gloves

Rich, love your work! hoping you can help. I use a drill/ dremel for filing, with sandpapers and polishes- but I’m struggling to find a bit that will hold the ring! I’m thinking maybe a stepped rubber cone? not entirely sure what to search for as so far I haven’t had any luck! Really hoping you can point me in the right direction of what I’m after is called. Thanks!

Lovely work. I too am a memorial jeweller. Ive not made a chanel ring yet as I don't own a lathe. My question is regarding the 03 glue. Have you tested it for discolouration/yellowing over time like some resins do. Just curious. Only just found you so I will watch the rest of your videos. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge.
@TheBeardx16

Hi welcome to my little channel I just hope I can keep you entertained. I've been ising 03 for a while now and can honestly say that I haven't seen any discolouration or yellowing. Most of the time I'm laying it on top of mica migment or opel so you probably wouldn't see a change anyway. The pens that I made last year where coated with a clear 03 finish and are just as if they where made yesterday. Hope this helps. If you order some 03 please take advantage of my discount in the description.
