The CRAFTSMAN 6" Chainsaw is an excellent pruner for the person who works in their yard. The safety features built into this saw help to make it a safe experience for the user. This is a chainsaw, so caution and care should be used while doing anything with this saw.
The chain speed on this smaller chainsaw is slower, for safety, and is also not automatically oiled. The nice part about that is there is no chance of leaks! the downside is that you should oil it before going out to use his saw.
The comfort and ergonomics of this small chainsaw are great. It will intuitively bring your hands into a protected area and even novice chainsaw users will feel comfortable.
Make sure to keep the battery charged while using it as the bottom 20% of the battery brings a less torquey chainsaw that will cut out often on larger trimmings. Using a larger battery on this saw will bring out the beast in it!
Overall, this saw is not for everyone, but for the people who want a pruning chainsaw for their home, it will work wonderfully.

I just got one of these, it is really cleaning up my fence line. It works great, my area was getting out of control, and a regular pruner just wasn't doing the job. Definitely recommend it !

It looks like a cousin of the Dewalt pruner. BTW, I bought the Dewalt after I saw your review. It's now one of my favorite tools! Thanks for your reviews!

I have the Dewalt and love it. The safety was extremely awkward even for a right handed guy. It took about 10 minutes to disable it and made the tool so much more enjoyable to use.

Cheaper option for homeowner that has a recip saw is the Diablo carbide pruning blade, things a beast on my Ridgid recip in orbital mode for pruning. Ive used it to cut 8" branches no problem. (Using the 9 or 12" blade)

I'm not trolling you Brian but a few years back you tested a baby chainsaw (I don't remember which one), and you said that you prefer to use a sawzall. I use these small chainsaws a lot and I love them. While *_NOT_* a tool for you, my favorite is the Worx JawSaw with a 4Ah battery - and I don't even like Worx tools, but I use the heck out of that thing for cutting up small branches on the ground because it doesn't require me to do any bending or any lifting.

I am unsure what small saw I said that about. Maybe the Craftsman "jaw saw" as it had so many limiting factors. I have never said that about this Craftsman, the Dewalt 8" chainsaw or any of the Milwaukee Hatchets. These are great. There are amazon models like this that are junk. These types of saws are very useful to me. I prefer a bit larger ones as I use them in the woods and I can cut a lot with them if needed. The M18 Hatchet is in my side by side and I have removed a 20 inch tree from the trail with that and my winch.

IVe tried the stihl one but the small battery and how easy the chain falls off makes me consider the ryobi one. whats your opinion milwaukee vs ryobi in this tool segment?

The Milwaukee m18 Hatchet is a beast. The Dewalt cuts super fast. Not a ryobi fan.

I bought the Stihl GTA 26 when it first came out, if you can, return it for a refund, even my $35 18V 4" Chinese chainsaw cuts better and it came with a hard case, two batteries and two chains. *EDIT:* I was just on the Home Depot website and they currently have the Ryobi 6" brushless chainsaw with two 4Ah batteries and a charger for $99. When you buy the batteries and charger you get the chainsaw for free.
