Long video...lots of things figured out during the 3 hrs +, of overall footage...got it down to under 30 min overall...many failures until I stopped using the rubber hose right after the compressor. Hope it is helpful to someone or at least fun to watch. :)
So a few years ago I got this Craftsman 919.167280 20 gallon air compressor from my friend Mike when he wanted to downsize it out of his garage. It has worked well for what I have needed, but I have noticed that if it has to run more than once to keep up with the air demand (ie spraying air to dry off parts after evaporust), it started spewing water along with the air...I tried to get the easier dump valve, which makes it easier to drain, but does not fix the issue of water getting in.
Watching online, the solution is to buy or make an after cooler setup to go between the pump and the tank, and catch the water that condenses out before it goes into the tank.
So that was my goal...unfortunately I had lots of 'fun' and misdirections due to not working much with air lines (ie never) and not being familiar initially with all the connector sizes and types. So I bought a few incorrect fittings, ran into several cases where the fittings I got were undersized from what they should be....made a different video about one set that nearly screwed me up right at the end...and then finally after realizing the temp of the pump was at the fail temp of the rubber fuel hose, went to an industrial McMaster-Carr hose which solved the temp issue.
So the end result was after much trial and pain:

All of those except for the mcmaster carr hose ( www.mcmaster.com/catalog/130/... extreme heat female to female 1/2 npt to 1/2 npt 36" long) and the husky fitting pack from home depot were from amazon. Some worked better than others...some sucked and the brass ends were undersized which caused all sorts of havoc.
I also learned that the temps coming out of the compressor are too high for rubber hose, that is likely why most other videos I saw used either hardline of aluminum fuel line or copper line, etc.
This did work though....if I had to do over I might have gotten a smaller 1/4 npt mcmaster carr hose...as that may have bent nicer around the plastic covers...which I will now have to modify vs using as is...oh well. At least it finally did work and removes water.
