A little witchy journaling supplies haul for you: 7 Things I received (or bought myself) over the holidays which I plan to use in my Journaling practice in 2023.
This also turned into an unintentional tarot flip through video of the We'Moon Tarot and the Dark Wood Tarot. Ah well, these things happen.

LOL thanks April, I always try to entice others into my underwater sticker den ;) Discovering sticker books - rather than loose stickers - has been an aha for me though. They’re easier to work with in this format I find.

Thanks! This was a fun video surprise. I love seeing your take on decks and will be curious how you get on with the Darkwood Tarot. I've had it for a few months but haven't really worked with it. I did hear Sasha Graham speak about shadow work in the summer. She gave a great keynote speech about it! So you're spot on that that deck will be great for that. She's also working on another deck with the same artist, so hopefully, we'll get more info on that soon! I'm pleasantly surprised to hear you're thinking of having another depth-ish year. It's been on my mind too and there are some new posts in your FB group about it. I recently rewatched your playlist on the subject and was really struck by the conclusions you came to around it being more of a year of getting to know yourself once the noise of buying and consuming was quieted down. You reflected that for some people the not buying didn't even end up being an important part of it! What I always love about your content is your permission slip to take what works for us and leave the rest. So for me, I don't have rules around spending, per se. But more a strong intention to dive deep into certain areas and use the resources I already have. And considering what you said in your most recent video in that playlist around the second price we pay. So all that to say, maybe rewatch your videos and remember the wisdom you gleaned the first time to inform 2023 as depth year can be a wide swath of meanings ;)

😆 I love this! Thank you 🙏🏻 I sometimes surprise myself with the odd piece of wisdom here and there, when I’ve forgotten it and come back across it. Depth year was such a valuable experience I kind of both do and don’t want to revisit it. I almost want to keep that one year as special. But there are definitely aspects of it - like that deeper dive into self knowledge- which I really do want more of. I’m looking forward to using the dark wood. Why is it you think you don’t use it much?

@@JessicaandtheMoon It was a special year and not one you'll be able to recreate. I absolutely understand wanting it to be unique. This time around (whenever you do it again... if you do) will have different focuses, goals, and outcomes. As for the Darkwood, no good reason! I have other decks I'm more comfy with that I always reach for. This year I hope to expand my use into other decks and become much more discerning with my library or decks. Darkwood is high on my list to use!

My fun thing from the month also involved a carnelian. I wanted to do a little Jupiter working during Sag season and I had everything ready but then I suddenly had this inkling that I needed a carnelian. That wasn't on the supply list but you know... an urge is an urge. So I went to my favorite local crystal shop and started picking up all these little tumbled carnelian pebbles to see if any "spoke" to me. If none did I was fully prepared to leave empty handed. After picking up tons of them with no luck I finally held one in my palm that had the buzz. Then I looked at it and it was typical plain orange but when I flipped it over from the other side you could see a natural inclusion that looked like a perfect letter "J." J as in Jupiter. 😊

I got The HooDoo Tarot and I was super excited about that because the deck is made to ask questions and get yes/no answers so I found that unique.😊

Lovely!! The dark wood reminds me a bit of the Ostara, because of the borders, I think. Those sticker books are so nice!! 🤩

Jessica, what did you use for the yellow background on your first journal page?

Hi, I used watercolour crayons (and then water to blend). The Ottergami pages are kind of shiny so I thought crayons would have a better chance of working than pigment blocks.
