Gutted to see you didn’t film how you replaced small part of wishbone subframe bracket after one of your bolts snapped- like mine- as I was hoping finally my get to see how this bit is replaced! Good job though and I have the same bushing to install! Don’t the rears and feels a lot more solid for it- looking forward to the end result! Keep up the hard work bro 😎

Hint. Remove assemble (if you must) tack weld on a head. PB blaster. Remove bolt. Best case scenario I’ve seen. About to embark on an exhaust fix with similar possible issues.

You really should have lubed those bushings with a ton of PTFE. Not super supportive of those ECS bushings though. I went the Powerflex route with Street 80A durometer and they do not have the "hollow" that those do. But, better than stock for sure. Thumbs up.

Nice instructional on replacing the control arms, thanks! Thought I'd include a link for those who have the DSG box (vid is for a mk5 jetta/golf but will work the same on the mk6) as it restricts the LH front bush bolt removal: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7pgrLyctNfNgYU.html. A point that is worth noting, and this seems to be a common mistake repeated across the net with regard to bushing fitting but the bush should not be lubricated where it installs to the chassis (metal of the control arm in this case), as a rule the lub should only be applied to the moving parts within the bush. If there is corrosion, clean and paint but do not lubricate as the bush is NOT intended to move in relation to the bracket. Cheers for all the great content and production!

Great video thanks for posting, what is your car ride like since installing the PU bushings? I have some for the wishbones on my car, I've heard that the ride is a bit rougher with PU Bushings being harder than the factory rubber ones?? Thanks again.

When Re-Installing did you use lock tight or anything?
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
I used a little grease because there was some corrosion in the holes for the bolts. It's actually not recommended to use any grease, it will throw of the torque specs. Lock tight is also not recommended.

@@CraftyWorkshopBuildsAight, can you please tell me how does it perform on bad roads or may be off road as the place I live has lot of bad roads with big potholes so I don't want the comfort of the ride sacrificed due to the stiffness.

If you put the red first to the subframe can you put the black after?
@grafixnz
@grafixnz Жыл бұрын
May depend on the brand used but generally the outer bush can be inserted then the secondary internal bush inserted. Note too that the main outer bush should NOT be lubricated where it fits to the arm, all bushes where they fit to the arm should not be lubed as they are to move WITH the arm, only lube the internals (eg. the secondary bushings or spigot tubes on the front bushes). Hope that helps

@CraftyWorkshopBuilds
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
Respect, I'm happy you're getting value from my videos. It will depends on your overall goal of the car, will you keep it stock or plan to modify it? The awd platform is definitely a huge advantage on the R.
@benharvey3721
@benharvey3721 2 жыл бұрын
@@CraftyWorkshopBuilds hey thanks for replying! I guess my overall goal would be a clean build with maybe some performance modifications but nothing too crazy, I love the awd platform on the R and the styling however the gti has a massive fan base and is a lot cheaper, overall I’m stuck haha
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds
@CraftyWorkshopBuilds 2 жыл бұрын
They do share a lot of the same parts. Yea, that's one reason why the GTI fan base is larger, it's cheaper, Lol. If you choose the R you'll probably end up with less funds to do mods. However, that will depend on your overall budget.
