The audio freakin' sucks but the interview is great because it's Craig. He can be so wild and crazy and at the same time so genuine and introspective. Oh and definitely way funnier than Ellen.

omg I'm reading his book now and it's so fantastic, I didn't really know about him before, but it introdused me to him and his life, and now I feel like I've known this man for a long time and I just love him so much! Thank you for being who you are, Craig.

Craig's waaay funnier than Ellen. I always get bored after a while watching Ellen, very tame, centered too much around commercials, screaming audiences and admiring celebreties, while with Craig's show it's all about making the ordinary special and the special ordinary.

Loved your comment :) I feel exactly the same about Craig!!

littlemissmello Beautifully put, my friend! That's *exactly* what Craig does (or did), and he does it flawlessly. :)

littlemissmello I love Ellen, don't get me wrong, but I totally agree that her show got gimmicky. It was kinda Oprah cross with the shortest interviews, redundant as far as questions that guests were asked (there were never any bombshells dropped on Ellen...), crossed with silly games and practical jokes that never really carried.
@idadudenmanner6 жыл бұрын
littlemissmello BUT CRAIG?! AMAZING!!! Every episode had something awesome about it. I won't lie, I once got laid off from this job hat ended due to the company losing the funding that kept me hired, and it was a great job too, paid well, etc. BUT the first thing I thought when I heard the job was done was: "well at least now when I stay up to watch Craig I won't be too sleepy when I get up in the morning!" Bc with that job I had to get up at 6:00am and it's kinda of impossible to watch Craig AND get up at 6am AND be a polite, functioning member of society. Luckily this job had two hour lunches, during which I NAPPED and ate very quickly after getting up from said nap... still, it ALWAYS SUCKED when that alarm went off. Made me mad at Craig and Geoff for being so funny that I had stayed up to watch them.

The problem is that people try to somehow represent pronunciation with normal English writing, when there are no consistent rules to the way vowels are pronounced in English. The best you can do with a written representation without using IPA is to use known words as examples of a sound that needs to be used. But even that is problematic as those example words can be also pronounced differently in different accents. Preferably people would refer to audio clips which do exist for names online.

International Phonetic Alphabet. They write phonetic transcriptions down with it, and if you know how it works, you can write down and understand any pronunciation of any word in the English language with it (in any given accent, obviously). Most other languages too, I think. Basically it just works so that each symbol is literally a single phoneme. i.e. /kreig fərgəsən/ or something like that.

I don't think Ellen seems off-put by Craig Ferguson, she's honestly just always been more of a low-key and laid back talkshow host, whereas Craig is really over the top and likes to get his word in. I think it's just their individual personalities.
@sst71011 жыл бұрын
I'm from NY and I've heard it pronounced both ways in the US, mostly the one rhyming with plague. That rule is way too vague. It depends on what region the person is from. Just like people from California pronounce some words differently than people from NY. Even just in New York you'll find that pronunciations will vary from Long Island to New York City, and Upstate NY.
