Everyone who watched him regularly loved him. Others saw him once and didn’t get the robot skeleton and dancin horse and puppets and didn’t give it a chance. His show rewarded repeated viewings. These KZfaq videos are a godsend. Ferguson is better than anything on late night right now. It’s not even close. He’s funny, complicated, has an edge and knows exactly when to turn it off and on. The best.

It took me far too long to appreciate the brilliance of Craig's show. And without youtube I never would have gotten there. He will forever go down as one of the people I would most like to meet in the world. (And when they scored Josh Robert Thompson for the show, they found lightning in a bottle. It is impossible to imagine a better person to fill the role of sidekick opposite Craig.)

I've never understood King's appeal beyond his longevity and voice. He's an interviewer who dealt softball questions to those in power and rushed his interviewees along instead of listening deeply. But Ferguson is terrific, and there's an obvious affinity, so an exception to the rule maybe.

I have a feeling if Craig was given the Late Show instead of Stephen Colbert, he could have went the same path as Conan O'Brien. I think if Craig had took over, the Late Show, he would not have moved to New York City and would have kept it in Los Angeles. Then he would have had to re-tailor his show to suit 11.35pm. Not an easy task as Conan found out. It maybe a 62 minute time difference but it means a lot going from 12.37am to 11.35pm. I think Craig's comedy would have been neutered. He would have lost all his charm, I am sure Geoff Peterson would have been ditched, and a more formulaic talk show style would have been adopted, and would be controlled much more by CBS, they simply ignored him at 12.37am. He brought in good ratings, good sponsors, had a good fan base, didn't cost much to make, and did not over shine David Letterman so they left him alone, it would not be the same at 11.35pm. So I am glad he took the decision to quit, and move on.

It never sounded as though Craig really wanted that job. He never politicked, nor spoke of wanting it. He knew that things were changing and decided to split. It worked out for him and he left a wonderful Legacy in Late Night Television.
@1centimetre
@1centimetre 2 ай бұрын
Actually, the only ignored him because Dave Letterman owned the timeslot of 12.30 for as long as he was the host of the 11.30 show. CBS couldn't interfere as WwP would tell them to back-off here and there.

Brilliantly handled, I love the fact that interviews are actually conversations that follow on from thought to thought. I'm glad CF rips up every blue card! I would love to have watched this stuff live! or at least close to, like I do now with Bill Maher. Craig has a knack of being able to interview cleverly off the seat of his pantz!. Craig made it very clear that his departure wasn't like the Dave-Jay or Jay-Conan situations at NBC. Just like Craig Kilborn before him, he just didn't want to do it anymore. "Late Night" on NBC has continually beaten "The Late Late Show" in the ratings regardless of who has hosted either show, and I'm sure that comes with a lot of pressure on the CBS side. I've read Craig Ferguson's book, and he's truly a unique person with a unique mindset. He has been all the way to rock bottom, and he is much more interested in being happy than being famous or making more money than he needs. When he passed the torch to James Corden, James said, "Well, you look pretty good." Craig responded, "That's because I'm leaving!"

Craig's got so much notoriety now (on KZfaq and other social media)I guarantee that he could sell a DVD series of his show or if he were to start another show it would go through the roof and a matter of days......... Completely by choice I don't watch TV at all, I have no cable, no satellite, and haven't for at least almost 10 years now,nothing...... I just watch DVD's and KZfaq but if he came out with a show I would get cable!!!!! If I had had TV or cable while he was on the air I would have been watching him the whole time he was in syndicate....and still would be watching him on the Internet. And the bullship that KZfaq is pollen anymore I got a pretty good feeling there's a lot of people who were no same boat as me who are just getting give up on KZfaq altogether and get cable it's just worth it now...... ...... But I'm holding out for Craig to have a new show, then it's a guaranteed sale!!!!👍

I heard a recent interview he did in Britain. He and his family are living in Scotland now, in a historic manor house. He still travels to the U.S., but seems to prefer it back home. And he totally quashed the notion that he'd go back to doing a talk show, admitting that in the last few years of his talk show he was pretty much over it. He's enjoying puttering around in the garden, and although he's not calling it being retired, at this point he seems closer to calling it that.

I think his last home in the US is still on the market. He left the US (for good?) in 2019 and it's been on sale for a long while. A lot of people that lived in the LA area are having problems selling their multi-million dollars and that was even before the pandemic hit this past year. People just don't want to live in California anymore and the bubble's popping on that real estate market.

Larry was always the King. Craig's non-comment, comment about Dave spoke volumes. LOL!

People with "the past" are the coolest folks on earth. They don't judge,they genuinely interested in u and ur opinion. God bless this slick mess that is Craig Ferguson

I've experienced this in the church as well. If somebody does wrong then they are judged by people who in their minds have never done anything wrong. Whereas those with a past who came to Jesus are more gentle in dealing with others who do wrong.

3:35 - That little glance to camera I love, was Craig revealing the truth or just play acting for the camera. You decide.

If Craig could do a show 'straight on internet', now that would be interesting. It would be prime time all the time as everyone can choose when to watch it. TV is so old fashioned. I don't watch tv for already 30 years (i am 52). Do not like to have to sit in front of the TV on someone else schedule. I watched this on a sunday at 01:00 AM!

Perhaps you could try a KZfaq search for 'Couple Thinkers.' You might enjoy all three hours.

"I'd like to have both ways", man that was very direct. Larry got the pun quite rapidly.
