On a training excersises a Leopard 2 loader can do it in 2.5 seconds by the book. It can be done faster "not-by-the-book" when after loading the gun you pull a new shell on your arms to wait the gunner to fire and shell get ejected, so you get under 2.5 seconds in that moment. But that means you have one shell weighting ~18 kg in your arms is taking your strength quickly, and you have very hard time to handle it in normal combat operations. That 2.5 second loading speed is really done in optimal situation, on a loaders training machine. In actual combat you are swinging around if you don't hold on with both hands from the hull, and when it comes to load the shell, you are swinging same time as the MBT likely is on that moment reversing and stopping and coming up again, so you get by average 6-8 second loading times per shell. That is what the autoloader improve dramatically that you get almost constant (depending if you switch between the ammo type) firing rate and you can do it excellent manner on the move, like assault on hard terrain as you don't have one guy there trying to hold on, grab a heavy object from a pipe and rotate around to insert it to another.
