If anyone takes issue with this, I want you to know that crane games are LITERALLY RIGGED by design to only give a 1 in 20 chance (or less depending on how the owners decide to rig it) of giving you the sufficient grip strength to actually grip and carry the prize to the finish. This man is a damn hero.

I'm from the USA, but I used to play remote controlled Japanese crane games through Toreba. I did win a decent number of small items over the course of a couple of years; several little figurines, a yunomi style teacup, a fan, etc. I generally didn't go for the bigger, more impressive items. They had a system where you got a free play or two each day once you'd bought tokens at least once, and I would often just try my luck and leave if I didn't succeed. However after a while they started making it harder and harder to win anything, to the point where I was questioning if some of them could be beaten. The openings you had to drop things into got smaller, and they started attaching extra packaging to some of the smaller items to make them harder to move. I eventually gave up messing with it, and I've heard it only got worse. It's a shame, because it used to be really fun and was the only way for me to play that type of game.
@StarrJun
@StarrJun 9 ай бұрын
I was a OG with Toreba too but they made it way too difficult to win. The shipping got worse too 🤦🏻‍♂️ When I noticed the claws are weaker I slowly stopped playing it. Not worth the price too cause the figures only retail 20-30 dollars while you spend more trying to win. Nice to know I wasnt the only one noticing this 😅
@DoobieFerguson

@joba9429
@joba9429 7 ай бұрын
During covid lock downs I was on toreba a lot, they'd give a fair amount of free play tickets, I'd win often after studying machines a bit or sniping spots after people gave up. It was good times until like you said they started making it unreasonably rigged not too long ago.
@LaydiNite
@LaydiNite 7 ай бұрын
@@DoobieFerguson The thing is, this one used to be at least possible. The "scam" element initially was just taking advantage of people's impatience and the "one more try" mindset. The nicer prizes were obviously harder to win and usually took way more tries and therefore way more money than they were worth. However the smaller, less impressive items were possible to get now and then through a combo of luck, planning and patience. That stopped being the case later, and even the small prizes became pretty much unwinnable.

Go to round 1 a lot of machines tell you how to win similar to the ones in this vid, a lot of games are UFO catchers (the 2 claw machines). you have to knock stuff or pull the prize. I broke even one time i went they are expensive to play but good variety of prizes. You really have to know the win conditions, and placement of the claw when it opens to hit boxes on corners. But i highly recommend watching videos of the games to get the most value (if you would want to try japanese claw machines like these). Sometimes you might mess up and have to wait for an employee to reset it.

that claw spin at 2:00 is probably the biggest reason for a ban if any, since it makes the whole shelf fall over and possibly ruin the stands.

Was this meant to be a comedy video? Because I died laughing when "widing the hole" turned out to be using the claw to rip the machine apart.

It's a battle as old as time itself, spin attack crane master vs the guy that has to rebuild and restock the machine every day :D

I did similar techniques when i was In Japan. Most games just take patients and consistency and maybe 1-2 thousand yen. I won Chigiry and Ego by doing this.

For the machines that have stacked prizes, are staff of the arcade coming up to reset them or is the machine (impressively) doing it somehow?

For me, this is actually the proper way to play. It's a battle of wits between you and the operator.
