In this video, I have a camera mounted on my hardhat while we set a modular house on a basement. This perspective shows you pretty much exactly what I see when operating the crane. Almost giving the sensation of operating the crane yourself. We are using the Tadano 180g-5 with 53,000 lbs of counterweight, full span outriggers, four parts of line and 120+ feet of boom length.

Can't thank you enough for doing these videos Sir. I am starting my mobile crane certification training in 2 weeks and your channel is a great preparation for that. Love the hard hat POV. Would be nice if you could go over your controls (joysticks) in one of your videos. Basically talk through what you doing as you boom up or boom down, cable up and down etc. I looked closely at some of your place cards on your dashboard, so I think I have a pretty good idea on which control does what. But it would be nice to know for sure how you control the crane. Anyways, be safe and again thank you for all your efforts sharing your knowledge and passion for cranes.

crane operator here, thankfully we don't have to bother with dolly. All counterweights on deck up to 95tn, 100 - 250tn has about 10 - 15tn on deck (with the boom, these numbers doesn't count fixed/bolted counterweights), But because of no dolly's we need trucks to bring extra weights.

Sorry if this is a question you've already answered: what determines when you put the boom behind on the dolly versus running on the crane frame over front? Maybe something to do with the road weight ratings?

Really like the helmetcam. Thanks for showing so much of the whole pick. Does the computer radius readout take boom deflection into account, or is that all on the operator? Strange to see all that rebar sticking up without the plastic safety caps.
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 5 жыл бұрын
Rambozo Clown, I was hoping no one got motion sickness from all of my looking around. The computer shows the radius. As it radius increases, I boom up to compensate. So, countering the boom deflection is all on the operator. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

Do you lose any capacity working over the nose like that, or did Tadano take that into account when they did the capacity charting?
@ToTheTopCrane
@ToTheTopCrane 5 жыл бұрын
Sandy, the load chart is a full 360°. So, no. There is no change in capacity. That being said, if the crane were pushed past the chart, it would physically pick more over the rear. Since the carrier engine would act as additional counterweight. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

@@ToTheTopCrane That makes sense. Follow up question. Is there a *minimum* pick distance or is it one of those as long as it won't hit the rig we're good type things? Thanks as always for the video Jimmy, appreciate them.

@@sandy1653, there is a minimum radius. The crane will only boom up so far. So, the minimum radius is dictated by the boom length.
