Crank Scraper, Oil Pump, Windage Tray & Oil Pan Install... Having fun with this Performance 454 BBC engine build... Now that we have the bottom end assembled, and the Milodon Crank scraper clearance for the reciprocating assembly, we need to install the oil pickup tube on the Milling Select Performance High volume oil pump with the tool we made in Part #8 of this engine build. Also with the Milodon windage tray we are having some alignment problems with the oil pan dipstick, so we address that as well...
Then its time to install the c3 Corvette BBC oil pan on this Engine...
So lets get started... 😃

Alright, go ahead and build yourself a whole pan, nice amd deep, passe ger kick out, full windage tray, threaded dipstick...😅 First engine I built when i was 14 (383) I didn't know you needed to weld the pickup. It ended up being used for a dirt car as a backup and, well, I found out the hard way. Fell off 😢. It's twin lives today 18ish years later. Lots of street miles, 2 dirt seasons, well overdue. May I suggest cam install 1st, before crank... And not sure I'm fond of 0 endplay/relying on temp Good content. Underrated channel

Thanks again Hybrid... The solid roller lifters are from Comp Cams... Don't have a push rod length for this engine yet, so I don't have the pushrods... The roller rockers are Scorpion... Never have run the Scorpion stuff but have read good things about them for the price...👍

Damn good assembly. I always measure the amount of torque required to rotate the complete assembly. Yours look like about 40 pounds/feet. Can you believe some of the LT series Vette engines drag at 15 or less!

Thanks Laut for the nice comment, and you are probably right about the 40 lbs... We did not use low drag rings on this engine build... 15 lbs of drag is pretty cool.... Lots of power gain there..

I made a mistake and bought the wrong timing cover for mine haha...apparently there is a huge difference between a gen 4 and 5

Bummer... But the Mark V Engine you have is a good engine... It has few nice things that the Mark IV does not... Looks like you're going to have a very nice engine...👍

What keeps the other side of the pan plumb and no leaks?

Hi royce wheat... Thanks for the question and the sub...👍 The crank scraper being made out of thin sheet metal it doesn't seem at affect the other side... But I did use some silicon for some extra insurance....

Hello. I used a sbc Milodon 1 piece rubber gasket and it leaked on both sides of the scrapper. I'm going to goop some silicone on it now. I assume your cork gasket filled the void and didn't leak?

We used silicone on the ends to seal it up.... Hope you get your fixed...👍

Hello and thanks for your reply. My leak was at the front rubber timing cover seal. Looks like the seal was too big for the CVR Bullet Proof 2 piece timing cover since it squeezed out a bit in the center. I'll let you know what gasket I came up with that works.@@Myersmetalworks

The Milodon sbc 7qt. pan requires thick front and rear rubber gaskets. The CVR timing cover requires the thin gasket. Had to use the thin gasket. Permatex, the right stuff gasket maker did the trick in the voids. I had the pan for a few years so I wanted to use it. So, the correct pan for the timing cover or the correct timing cover for the pan is the lesson learned. I hope this helps someone.

Wow you got to be kidding me you have to own a machine shop to put your windage tray in the oil pan that was designed for a 454 apparently those guys are building think ever motors different size you can keep your junk
