The Power Station should be sitting on top of the amp head because there are ventilation holes for a reason. It will generate heat while in operation.

Funny you said that, i found this beautiful Fender Jazz Bass Black with maple neck and White Pickups, in a PAWN Shop in a small city in Nor Cal, it was $175 with fender case. I Jumped on it, i asked Why so cheap? he said wait till you smell the case and the bass, Ciggarettes and Beer, i told him "NO problem Feels like Home" love that bass

I may be way off base, but I have a fryette and notice a lot of heat dissipation from the top of it. I wonder with the Marshall sitting on top, partially blocking the vents, if it could overheat and damage the fryette?

I was thinking the same. If it's not blocking the whole vent, it's at least blocking 75%, which is definitely not good for the unit long term.

@@Caleb-fv5fp the 80s were defined by JCM800s, racks, Soldanos etc. Plexis are classic rock tones from the 60s and 70s (i.e. thin, fizzy, weak) I’ve never heard one sound good unless it was modded.

@@Caleb-fv5fp running it at 90v plus load boxes, external power amps, and a crap ton of effects, and burning through power tubes weekly. On top of it all the brown sound is nothing special compared to the amps that came out in the 80s.

Sounds great, and great gear! I got a couple of PS2a's I use for my 1959hw and JTM45.... Just please take it out from under the amp and put it on top though! Not just because its more balanced and looks better but because that thing needs to breath mate.

Is the volume turned down to room volume with the Fryette, or is it really loud ? The tone sounds really good and I have a 1987x Plexi head. Also, would it sound good through Celestion 25w Greenbacks ?

Yeah greenbacks sound killer with these. It’s not blisteringly loud at all. Just over shouting volume I’d say. You can get it quieter if you want.

It’s actually a recent build. Made with parts available today. It does have vintage Mustard caps and Allen Bradley resistors. But otherwise it’s all modern day reproduction parts. Classic tone and Heyboer transformers.

I don't know what's done per-se to get an amp to sound "percussive", but that is the defining characteristic of Marshall-esq builds. The more "throaty" and percussive the better.....reminds me a bit of the Helios. Not more gain, just more percussion and punch. The fact that you do it without making the amp sound "nasally" (which is very common, for some reason), makes it even better. Great job!

I think there’s no way around it since you’re attenuating it down so far. In other words how do you A/B the tone with a cranked Plexi and no attenuator vs one with the volume brought down? The dynamics always change with volume. But either way, there’s no arguing that NMV amps sound amazing with them.

Hey David, No master or cascaded stages Just a regular 1987 circuit with 2 stages. No pedals just straight into amp. It’s a gainy little beast! All EQ are on 10.

I'v done a few Jose's upon requests, and some of Cameron's other work with my ear tweaking for my sonic pocket. I ask because my lady bought me a 1968 10,000 series Super Tremolo. Its a 9.5 out of 10. Very clean. I'm changing the filtering 1968SL Specs as they were different. In fact this is a early transition model with gold still on the white logo. The give away is that all four board caps are dual 40uf that were only in a couple of months. I'm #2 on a list at zZOUNDS for the Fryette PS 100. Might be a while as I hear Stevie Fryete is moving his shop. Anyway thank you. Don't be a stranger. And be safe out there I was the only Distinguished Graduate in Law Enforcement Academy in my Class of120. USAF LEOSA. But I was Army Ground Combat trained in addition to being a Combat Arms Instructor. Lead USAF & Marines on more than 100 Recons in OIF.. Don't know how but I was awarded the V Device for Valor. It’s just a stock 50w Marshall 1987 circuit. The best way to buy one would be to get a 1987x reissue. You’ll need a Power Station to attenuate it.

Hmm. All the heat from the amp going into Fryette, Fryette pushing all the heat back into amp through top/bottom panel...... Heat rises, cool air falls. Do the Marshall a solid, put it on the bottom.

Yeah a lot of people seem to be worried about that. It was only on there for this video. Plus it has vents on the side. You have to think about it…Fryette makes a rack mount kit for the PS100. So you’d have little to no ventilation through the top in that scenario. Hence the side vents.

@@groundzeroampworks780 Anyone I know that has tried it knows both channels running at once is unmeasurable. If running pedals,.. everything at noon,. except volume. There is no tone change. And if there is was,..bass mid and treble adjustments would clearly be sufficient. JUSTSAYIN'.
