The more he straightens it out the more crooked it gets! LMFAO 😂

The problem is that after I knew I had fallen into the trap, I kept watching

I was the straightening guy at work for years before retiring 3 yrs ago. U gotta do more than tap on it. I wonder how many guys are weighting to see it move. A tough one i had to do a lot was solid stainless 4 inch square bars 80 inches long straight to within .010" . And then there was things i had to get real close😊

When I did that I quickly discovered that my 6 ton press was only barely adequate. Wound up chinning myself repeatedly to straighten that Briggs and Stratton crankshaft. Those things are tough.

5 days later I’m invested to see it straighten up

I use to do that with push mowers using a pipe with matching I.D. they are pretty forgiving. Sometimes, I would get lucky with one or two hits and it would pop right back into memory.

As a skilled Machinist I can confidently say you can get in the ballpark using this method but never perfect. Results will be premature bearing wear and loss and leaking oil seals.

U measure inside the cw's find where the numbers change and bend accordingly either way its weakened and stressed just replace it its obv 125 or smaller pit bike style crank so just send it it will b in a chinesium motor so none of it will last anyway.

We got them in a lathe, got the bent part red, a few taps, and straight. Blade hit a drain pipe, sheard the key in the flywheel, and bent the shaft, all from cutting the grass, to close.

I spent almost 30 years in a machine shop and you can’t straighten hard and steel without stressing the metal. And I’ve never heard of somebody using a hammer to knock it in place. You should have two blocks to set it up on with a hydraulic ram set at the right pressure with a dial indicator on the shaft so you don’t have to take the shaft out every time.

I suppose you could make a hydraulic jack jig that would put 20 tons of pressure on both ends of that thing and straightening out the first time around, could put it in your press

The crankshaft is bent near the conrod journal. It's normally, at the longest end of the shaft.
