Das Video zeigt den Verlauf eines Unfalls mit einem Ultraleichtflugzeug. Die Verkettung von mehreren Faktoren führten zum Crash. Dabei wurde das Flugzeug zerstört. Am Tower entstand ein Sachschaden von 20T€. Der Pilot und sein Fluggast, kamen mit leichten Verletzungen davon.
Wir haben das Video veröffentlicht, weil wir denken, dass es für Piloten wichtig ist Fehler zu analysieren, um daraus die richtigen Schlüsse abzuleiten.

-ATC "Say that to my face!" Glad to hear the Pilot and passenger were ok. Airframes are replaceable. People aren't.

Pilot's Log book entry: did some Blue Angel stunts and an extreme close up to ATC camera, then successfully landed on the Tower catwalk. minor repairable damage.

Obviously I could be wrong about all of this, but I don't see this as a crosswind issue.... The first thing I noticed is the pilot was half way down the runway before attempting to bring it down, then misjudged where the runway was and performed their flare about 8 feet above the runway surface and just dropped it down hard, compressing the landing gear so much it just sprung the plane back up into the air. At this point the pilot wasn't flying the plane anymore (questionable if they were ever flying the plane), and in their fear, hit the throttle for a go-around and pulled back on the stick/yoke way too hard, basically going into a partial stall, losing all control of the plane and, well, we know the rest. I remember when still photos came out of this incident, interesting to see the video of what actually happened. Looks like the pilot just screwed up in multiple ways and just did everything wrong. Glad they got out of that without serious injury, but I would suggest they give up flying. If i remember this incident, the tower was unmanned.

If other pilots share their mistakes, your answer is here definitely NOT GOOD. This Video is shared to learn from it, not to say something like "i would suggest they give up flying" or "questionable if they were ever flying the plane". Shame on you, go back to the 70's! Did you never make a mistake?! If you say yes, ....well. Even on of the best aerobatics pilots made very stupid decisions and died from this. I agree, there are many people out there, who maybe should think of giving up flying. But videos like this one here are NOT the right place. If you ever make a mistake, shall i stand there and shout at you "Go to jail!"?

If i would judge all pilots in the world by him....i think 95% of the pilots should loose their license. As is said, also good, very good pilots made very bad mistakes...we are no Gods

Look at the windsock. He’s landing a light aircraft with a tail/cross wind. Made it difficult for himself.

Die CTSW schwebt halt lang . Und wenn man zu hoch und schnell reinkommt dann ist rechtzeitig durchstarten notwendig. Ohne Vollgas am Boden wäre da wahrscheinlich nichts passiert. Durchstarten ist halt nicht immer die Beste Option. Sind die Klappen voll draußen bäumt sich so ein Flieger schon mal auf. Nicht der erste Unfall mit dem Motiv. Andere haben da leider nicht überlebt.

Und das vielleicht mal ganz klar zu sagen, weil es sonst noch keiner getan hat, soweit ich das sehe: Grundsätzlich muss in einer gewissen Höhe vom Boden abgefangen werden, um etwas Sicherheitsabstand zu haben. Immer genau so abzufangen, dass die Vertikalgeschwindigkeit exakt 0 wird, wenn die Räder den Boden berühren, ist unmöglich. Außerdem müsste dann die Geschwindigkeit auch schon so gering sein, dass bei dem Anstellwinkel kein Steigen mehr möglich ist. Da man das so perfekt nicht machen kann, braucht man etwas Höhe, in der man abfangen kann und dann noch das letzte Stückchen mit geringer Vertikalgeschwindigkeit sinkt. Diese Höhe wurde hier - wie richtig gesagt - zu hoch angesetzt, so dass die noch vorhandene kinetische Energie nicht ausreichend war, um für die Zeit des Sinkens noch schnell genug zu sein und genug Auftrieb zu erzeugen. Da die Geschwindigkeit immer weiter abnimmt, wird logischerweise ein immer höherer Anstellwinkel benötigt, was grundsätzlich auch erwünscht ist, um nicht auf dem Bugrad zu landen. Nur wenn man es wie hier übertreibt, knallt an mangels Restenergie im Flugzeug auf die Bahn. Beste Lösung: Nicht zu hoch abfangen, was bei so einem kleinen Brummerchen nicht so schwer ist. Zweitbeste Lösung: Etwas Gas geben, um zu sinken ohne "Abzustürzen". Drittbeste Lösung: Durchstarten. Ich bin kein Fan des Durchstartens so nahe an Vs0. Es gibt zahlreiche Videos, wo Leute dabei die Kontrolle verlieren, weil die Steuerflächen unterdimensioniert sind, um bei der geringen Geschwindigkeit genug Kraft ausüben zu können. Warum hier aber die Nase so hoch gegangen ist, frage ich mich schon. Da muss jemand mächtig am Ruder gezogen haben.

What is the demonstrated crosswind component for that aircraft? From the looks of the wind sock it must have been blowing at least 10kts directly across the runway. If that’s a controlled field, the pilot would have been apprised of the actual wind speed and direction.

agree with others on tail wind but cross wind component for that aircraft is much higher. the big question should be why is his nose so high. push the nose down.?

Ich sehe zunächst zu hohes Abfangen und nach Geschwindigkeitsverlust ein tailstrike. Offenbar war dadurch das Flugzeug beschädigt und konnte nicht mehr normale Fluglage einnehmen.

Probably because they hit the tower it stopped them from stalling out 100 feet off the ground.

Plain as day, he flared way too high above the runway and stalled it into the runway, bounced back up into the air, then tried to power out and abort the landing waaaaay too late and rotated with too little speed and stalled it all the way into the tower. This guy made one bad decision after another.

Biggest factor was the strong crosswind. Probably exceeded the crosswind component for this light of a plane.

Ja lieber Peter, wir können und wollen uns mit der Bewertung des Unfallherganges nicht über die behördlichen Ermittlungen stellen. Auch die Persönlichkeitsrechte der Betroffenen wären mit einer "inoffiziellen" Bewertung des Vorfalls angegriffen. Das steht uns nicht zu. Jedoch die Leute, die aus dem stream etwas lernen können, verstehen es auch ohne Kommentar. Für alle anderen bleibt es ein unglaubliches Ereignis.

Zu hoch abgefangen, dann durchgesackrt und beim Durchstarten die Maschine völlig überzogen. Der Tower hat ihn quasi aufgefangen und den folgenden Absturz verhindert.

Ok, the pilot came in too high and the flared too late and high, got to slow and dropped the plane on the runway. As a result it bounced back in the air, but couldn’t fly because of insufficient air speed. Despite the fact that the pilot should have aborted before touching down, setting to full power and flying out of the situation was still possible. Now we observe the next error, instead of staying close the the ground and gaining air speed the pilot pulled back, taking the nose up and flying into a second stall. Three errors I could see, 1) wrong glide slope, coming high and then forcing the landing, 2) flaring too high and getting too slow while too high and dropping (stalling) the aircraft, 3) late and wrong execution of the go around and executing a secondary stall. A pilot learns all these things and should be able to recognize the situation early and execute a go around correctly. Some times wrong expectations in front of a passenger to demonstrate “I can land” could contribute to the sequence of events, just a hypothesis.

Da bei dem Unfall keinen Personenschaden gab, wurde dieser von der Unfallkommission (BFU) nicht untersucht.

Ha eseguito due errori uno peggiore dell'altro....il primo ha portato l'aereo non allineato alla pista e a bassa velocita' con ala inclinata fortemente a destra. Il secondo errore e il piu' grave , e' stato quello di riattaccare il motore senza correggere innanzitutto l'assetto di virata , e nello stesso tempo ha inclinato l'aereo verso l'alto portandolo allo stallo , e in una traiettoria potenzialmente fatale per il pilota e passeggero.... tutti gravi errori del pilota quindi. I really don't understand people blaming the pilot here. From this video you have NO idea of how difficult this maybe was. You all would have done it better, shure. Everyone's better 'til the day a bad mistake happens. Everyone is taught the same things in flight school...everyone also should be taught that you think of yourself, that you will "NEVER EVER IN MY PILOT LIFE do the same crappy mistakes"....til the day comes...(hopefully not). It makes me very angry here, shut up and hope you don't do the same sh...

Zu früh abgefangen, zu langsam geworden. -> Hart aufgesetzt. Im selben Moment kam die Fehlentscheidung durch zu starten. -> Vollschub (Zu früh und in einem Moment der nnstabielen Fluglage) Das Flugzeug zu steil nach oben gelenkt (auch duch den Dopseffekt) halb im Stall ohne Möglichkeit den Flugwinkel nach unten zu korrigieren In den Towe geflogen. Eine verkettung zweier Fehler. Kann in einem schwachen Moment jedem passieren.
