At least they destroyed the auger instead of bending it in couple of places so it could still be used. I worked for a guy in the late 80’s that did the same thing but he never moved the swing auger. We gave him so much crap he went home and didn’t come around for a week.

We've had yellow swing hopper augers sense the mid 1980s...Bumping in to and dinging or smashing one of the little tires on the swing hopper, yep it happens, But....How does one pull the whole auger over by hooking the swing with the trailer? That seems like a amazing feat seeing's the swing is connected so close to the ground and only 4 feet behind the tractor draw bar, must of took a pretty good tug to set things in motion. Was there trailer damage?

That hurt to see all the carnage that caused. 😳. Very glad no one was hurt. Would a portable drive over unload auger have possibly prevented that?
@NVMDSTEvil
@NVMDSTEvil 7 ай бұрын
Could have prevented it, but they are super expensive. By the looks of it I think the driver forgot to take the swing-away out from under the truck before driving away. Amazingly very little damage to the swing if thats what happened. Also possible the hopper bottom of the trailer was catching the swing and the driver moved the truck to try and get it un-stuck, we have had that happen with low trailers a few times, but usually a bit of moving gets them un-tangled without catastrophic results...

I’m just curious who was driving the Truck that took out the Auger. We have all made some mistakes at one point in time or another when it comes to Farming, that’s just Farming. I’m curious if it was the New Kid…he always seems to have a Smart Attitude/Comment about your Mistakes Ben, meanwhile he is Quite Green & Wet Behind his Ears at Grain Farming to be making the Comments that he has, let alone any Smart Comments as it is.
