This is literally the first thing I taught peach at 8 weeks old. Generally speaking you want to use low value rewards and make sure the dog is totally comfortable with each step before proceeding to the next.

my puppy is a month old and he hates being in the kennel but what helped is I get him tired before putting him in the kennel and when I see that he wakes up I open the door so he can know that he doesn’t need to bark in order for me to open it. Once older I will train him to do the rest.

That is great progress and wearing your dog out before going into the crate is always a must!

@@ImpactDogCrates oh definitely also I let him sleep on the floor for a while so when I carry him and put him inside the kennel he will be to sleepy to even care that he’s inside.

Thank you for this simple step by step. I have an 8 week old Belgian Mal also and have been crate training her with success until I went away for 2 days and came back to finding out the person watching her never put her in her crate once. So now back to the beginning.

When you’re at the point that you’re treating through the door of the crate, do you only treat once, then open the door and let them out, and then treat again once they go back in and close the door? Or do you sit in front and treat repeatedly with the door closed? This is the point I’m at with my 2 year old Dutch shepherd and that’s where I’m stuck

I want your crate! I don’t like the plastic ones. I currently use wire but the staffy I’m fostering broke through it. luckily he was ok. He had no prior issues with the crate. I have another crate that is much stronger but hard to move. A bit too small for him. Hopefully I’ll be able to invest in a few in the near future!!! ❤️🙏🏼💜

Do you reward with treats or regular food for a nine month old puppy?
@ImpactDogCrates4 ай бұрын
That is a personal preference although a lot of folks find great success in using food and training during their regular eating times!

what size high anxiety crate should i get for a 75 lb malinois? should i go with the 40 inch tall and wide or 48 inch? not concern about the cost difference. Thank you!
@ImpactDogCrates Жыл бұрын
Great question, generally speaking we will see this breed in our standard 40" at the weight you mentioned. The 48" is usually meant for a 150 lb Mastiff. A good rule of thumb is having enough space for them to go in turn around and lay down.

Crate training really isn’t that hard just put them in it and let them be.

Which is better, a crate or a playpen? Or are they fairly the same? I have a 3 month old toy poodle. Thank you!❤
@ImpactDogCrates9 ай бұрын
That is a bit of a subjective question. However a playpen may provide enough space for a dog to go to the bathroom and move away from it so it might be trickier to potty train. A crate will be more versatile though allowing you to utilize it in a vehicle setting making traveling much safer.

Buy your dog from a breeder as a puppy, raise it right so it won't develop separation anxiety so you would not have to buy this. Shelter dogs are full of behavior issues.

I recently bought a dog house for my rescued dog. But she's super fearful of everything new and refuse to go near it. I've tried putting treats and her toys in it, I put her dog bowl near it and she just won't go near it. Any ideas?

why do you have a dog if you are going to incarcerate it? You do know this amazing being would fight to the death to protect you, right? It loves you unconditionally too. Yet here you are jailing it like some criminal. You make me sick. you cannot call yourselves dog lovers.
