I used to have thousands of them, they have their eggs and babies inside their mouth. What I do is when the eggs are fertilised and babies can swim they spit them out and unless they are in danger they swallow them back. That’s when I take the female, open it’s mouth and transfer the babies to a container or a smaller tank.

I'm trying to understand if the joke here is about the fish being pregnant, because some fish are egglayers and some are live bearers. Talapia are egglayers and guppies are live bearers for example. If that's not the joke fill me in.

You need a raceway where all the outflow water goes before it goes back in. Something 15 to 20 feet long with a shade cover. In the bottom put plastic cage balls. Doing that will remove ammonia from your system which can build up and be a problem. It can also catch any fish sent down stream.

I'd call what you have a Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS), rather than an aquaponic system. I saw that you have plants floating on top of the water, but in aquaponic systems you have the fish and plant separated. Cool system, just not an aquaponic system.
