Thank you for your introduction to our products and unbiased review!! While we have standard mounting options for our cast magnetic frag rocks, and officially only rate to hold strong to half inch , we can add extra magnets at cost if requested or retrofit any of our designs with our premium 2 inch suction cups . ! great video !

Thank you for the great products! It'd be interesting too if in the future you may produce larger mat that could go on the back wall with multiple frag holders that's more flat against the back. 😉

Check calcium!!! Big clams lower calcium quickly, a week after i added mine i noticed stn on few of mine smaller sps plugs. Checked calcium and it was lowered by 50 within a week. All dosing was the same for months and tank was stable for long time. It caught me rather offguard that it dropped so much so quickly. Raised calcium over a week and most stn tissue grew back/grew over

Dont kill it this time I have a feeling that the small ones die because you have to feed them. If the clam is small you gotta feed it food 2 times a week I believe. A big clam feeds more out of the water so they don’t need to be fed.
@InappropriateReefer
@InappropriateReefer 2 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking it may have been the low pH my tank was having (was 7.8 - 8, now it sits around 8.25 - 8.45) since I did dose phyto almost every day while I was trying to keep those small clams. I'm sure there are other factors at played too, though my guess is that the low pH and lack of stability really did a number on the small Maximas. 😢 Hope these hardier Derasas (and maybe future Squamosas) will live long and prosper!

If you only have Zoas on that rock that you want to keep. Manually remove as many vermited snails as you can, make sure to get the curly part at the base. Do a 50/50 hydrogen peroxide (3% $1 brown bottle) tank water mix. Dip the rock for 1 minute no longer. Zoas will reopen in a day or so, Xenia, vermited etc will not.

@InappropriateReefer
@InappropriateReefer 2 жыл бұрын
Good idea, I can test this
@supafly201
@supafly201 2 жыл бұрын
Generally the larger the surface area the stronger the magnet is . With magnet price being so expensive and constantly rising we try to offer a top notch product at an affordable price which is why we use our rating and size magnets and rate them officially to half inch glass . While you can sandwich more magnets on the outside of the glass it doesn’t necessarily double the pull strength but it can help !!

I hate to see say it but I would ditch that entire zoa rock if it has Vermetid snails. Better to get rid of one rock than trying to deal with an infestation of your entire reef structure.

I am tempted to just pull some Zoa frags off and ditch the rock. Besides Vermetid Snails, the rock also has a decent number of tiny Xenia...

Sadly passed away a few years back after keeping him for a year or so; Frogfish seems to mysteriously die around the one year mark (bad diet? fatty liver), Mochi unfortunately followed the same fate, thought he'd fare better since his diet was mainly damsels and gut loaded ghost shrimps, not freshwater fish.

@@InappropriateReefer Thats good. I had a clam in a previous tank and the wrasses picked at to the point it stayed receded in its shell and eventually dies. Now I also had a Blue Jaw Trigger in that tank. I never caught the trigger but I suspect he nipped at the clamm as well. My 6-line was the main culprit.

The smaller Maximas died a few weeks in, I suspect it's the tank's constant low pH (tank was around 7.8 - 8 at that time; now a days it's around 8.25 - 8.45); the larger one I gave away pretty quickly after seeing how the smaller ones did not do well. The remaining Derasa is growing well, probably because they come from more unstable water so a bit more tolerant to swings.
