@MentalProtuberance3 жыл бұрын
The Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883. That’s 138 years ago. Bridge was never designed to do what it’s doing today. It’s a tribute to the designers of that bridge that it is still as functional as it is. Have you been on the bridge? The bikes have the least amount of space. Look at the printing on the bridge that tiny little strip is for bidirectional bike traffic. This is just a bunch of people not being considerate of other people. The bicyclist is 100% in the right and everybody else is wrong. No one wants to admit they made a mistake but they all have or they just don’t care. If you can’t obey the laws of a country or a city that you visit don’t go there.

@iamyourgreatgreatgreatgrea62913 жыл бұрын
@@mattybuttersable Exactly! I mean, how can you watch the video, and not see how full the pedestrian lane is? Almost nobody who's in a hurry, will ever think "ok, it's full here on the pedestrian lane, but I'm not allowed to go over on the bike lane, so I will just snail along with all these people, until I finally arrive where I need to be, just about 4 hours late, yep yep!" and honestly, you gotta be a puppet in order to not use the space of the bike lane in situations like this.

@Humorous Boris Yea ive seen some videos from the US about how your cyclists behave. And its hard to not hate them. Running 2 by 2 on a road blocking it even when a car is honking, stuff like that. But you gotta remember one key detail. Other countries such as my own, have proper cyclist culture and infrastructure. Meaning dedicated bike lanes. The fact that the US does not, is what creates this conflict. Because cycling is effective, especially in big cities, much more so than cars. And not being able to ride your vehicle like you want to because of lacking bike lanes or people blocking the few there are, makes you confrontational. Oh and, btw, even in Denmark where pretty much everyone is a cyclist to some degree, we all hate the sport cyclists. They think they own the bike lanes and roads, fucking pricks.

DANIEL Keough- Tru - so in like yr 1900 or so they made a big bridge right next to this one with it's own bike lane so wide that four bikes can ride next to each other and a separate lane fenced off from the bike lane so wide that four pedestrians can walk next to each other. And 100 years ago the problem was solved. Seems like one solution the city could implement would be to ban bicycles from this bridge and force them to use the one better suited for the traffic.

It's common knowledge, if you bike in NYC, that the Manhattan bridge is the better option. I pretty much avoid the Brooklyn bridge, especially if it's a nice Saturday. The Brooklyn bridge is only worth it if you get off yelling at pedestrians, which can admittedly be fun at times. disclaimer: I'm a cyclist. Any cyclist expecting people to learn in this situation are simply expecting too much and being unrealistic. It's NYC. Every day, thousands of brand new tourists are walking across that bridge for what is probably the only time in their life that they will do so. In other words, they might learn for themselves, but you'll never see the ones that learned ever again. And with so many people on the bridge, they are naturally going to spread out. It's a lost cause and honestly the arrogant attitudes and ignorance of the cyclists kinda piss me off more than the clueless pedestrians. But of course, I'm ignorant to think any of them are going to read this comment.

but cyclists act the same when they're in actual car lanes, and they ignore stop signs and red lights (legit never seen one stop at a stop sign), but want to be respected/treated as a vehicle and will yell at you and stay in your way if you don't.

That's not a bike lane though, it's just a pedestrian lane with a stripe in the middle.we have these in my city too and they're a source of conflict because there's not enough space. The city can say they've created space for bikes but it's not true, this is just a lame bike lane. Real involvement with cyclist transportation means secure wide lanes and not taking that space from pedestrians but from cars. But we all know they're too coward for that

To be honest, the bridge is damn tight too. So that's actually only enough for pedestrians and also for two-way cycle lanes? Much too small, much too small.
