I agree, but well worth it (impo.) I mean, if you’re looking for plug and play type of deal, that’s all you got right now. Of curse you can buy much cheaper battery on EBay and get that installed your self (if you know what you’re doing,) and don’t mind cutting the wires to adopt new batt, or purchase the right plug adopter (no need to cut anything.) You’re free to do so. Not to mention finding a way to mount it, where it looks decent (unless you don’t care.) Although with XL, there shouldn’t be any issues with that, as there’s plenty of space to fit most of the aftermarket 48V batt under the seat. Some people don’t know how, don’t have time or just don’t want to go through the hassle doing all that. TG battery is ready to just plug it into the stock location, and you’re good to go, in no time. So if you have time, and knowledge of how to wire an aftermarket battery that you can get on EBay for about $100+ (it will NOT directly plug into the stock harness,) go for it. Also, not sure how long those last, in comparison. But if you can get 2hrs out of it, I’d find time and knowledge, to wire it lol and go with that option instead. Although, now that I think about it, doesn’t really matter if it reaches 2hr limit. For the price, you can probably get 3 of them (and still be under the price TG batt sells for,) and all you’ll have to do is change the drained one and keep going. Just don’t forget about the caster wheels and the main tire wear (be ready to pack extra, even with the TG batt upgrade) as well as the motor (risk of over heating.)

Yes you can, however not the same in any stretch. This is a lithium battery that will produce the same voltage the full ride time(sla batteries are always degrading in voltage) 3x lighter and last longer. Cheaper isn’t always better 😊

“Eventually” EVERYTHING will burn out! Only problem is, no one knows when. Until then, enjoy it as long as it lasts; you’ll be fine, for a while. *Speaking from experience. NOTE: personal experience. So you’re on your own there bud.

It’s all going to be up to the way you drive it (the terrain and the intensity.) Clearly the life span of the motor (not sure about ESC) will be less than stock, as soon as you start upgrading to go faster and longer. How long will it take before it takes a sh*t, no body can tell you. Mine is still running just fine. At the end of the day, it’s up to you what you’re looking for to get out of the whole experience. You can either: buy the cart, leave it stock, and drive it on the smooth surfaces, like warehouses, home tiles or carpet, freshly paved smooth roads and so on. It will last you for a while (as far as wheels, main front tire/with inner tube, the motor and the ESC.) You’ll still have some fun. But you’ll be limited to about 40min driving time, forget about FAST, and will take you 14-16hrs to charge that stock battery again, to go for another 40 min or so. Or, you can go with the upgraded mods that are available out there (from few different sources) and hope your new and stock parts last; while having a blast driving the cart out on public streets/sidewalks. NOTHING is guaranteed! Even the more expensive longboard wheels that Taxi Garage uses, that supposed to last for a while (vs stock, at least,) are not what you’d expect. I lost 3 (damaged) while testing them out on a single charge one evening. I did drive it hard, but just as hard as I did when I had stock rear wheels/casters on it (destroying 4 wheels on a single run.) Then with a new set of those yellow wheels, taking it a bit easier, I was able to make them last through two batt charges (about 2 hrs each, on 2 different days.) Rotated as needed, one time had to rotate while out driving it, got that bad. Speaking of rotation of those wide yellow wheels. For some reason they wear out weird, sort of in the center (off center) leaving both edges elevated. Not like normally it would wear one side of the wheel (one side higher than the other.) Could be due to the turns I take, I don’t know. Because one day one wheel would wear out equally (like it’s supposed to,) while the other side would wear from the center of the wheel. *Driving on fairly smooth sidewalks. But anyway...Bottom line, the “better” wheels (the wide longboard, specifically that TG sells with their upgraded caster’s) that supposed to last way longer could make you walk back to your car or house, SAME DAY you put them brand new on your cart. So what I’m trying to point out is, it all depends on how hard and where you drive it, for the most part. Back to the motor question. Yes, more likely the life of your motor is cut short due to the battery upgrade. Only because you will put twice as much force on it, driving it. Instead of 40-1hr run time, to 2hrs+ (doubling it.) The hotter that motor stays hot, the worse it is for it. Whether you’re running higher voltage batt, or have 2+ sets of stock batteries, then run them one after another, to prolong your time. Now, if you’re worried about your ESC going bad after a while due to the batt upgrade (even though it’s known to work just fine,) new one cost about $30 (stock) and if you’re really worried, you can buy an upgraded one from 36v to 48v from eBay for under $50 (it even includes the wiring for the lights, if needed.) I don’t know the life span on that product (since I just purchased it, but supposedly it’s for the set up you need (to work properly with 48v batt.) The motor it self, brand new from Razor directly, is somewhere around $50 too, if your original one took a cr*p. So where I’m trying to get to is, the prices for the 2 things that you (and I’m sure many people are concerned about) are not THAT bad. Even if you had to replace one or both after some time (motor and or ESC.) The upgrades are very much worth it tho, impo. Well, at least the battery is. No body said it will be cheap to drive these carts. It can actually get pretty pricey, at the very beginning especially. But after that, you’ll just need to worry about replacing them wheels, and main front tire (I’m talking about the solid one too; another headache of it’s own; in my personal experience, but not getting into that now.) But again, all will depend on the way you drive it and the terrain. As far as the ESC that I mentioned earlier. If you go with the Taxi Garage battery, which are pricey, but personally are worth it, at least so far (fingers crossed.) It fits into the stock location really well, half as heavy, can be charged off the cart and charge time is less than original. Although, it claims to be fully charged within about 2.5hrs as I understand, and stated it’s fully charged at 54V. Mine will take about 7hrs to get that 54V, charger still showing red light (still charging.) In fact, It takes about 8-9 hrs to get it fully charged to where the charger indicator light actually turns green, showing it’s fully charged (topping off at 54.6V) I get about two and a half hours of pretty intense ride time out of that charge. So if you were to purchase the upgraded ESC from eBay, which will be the right voltage (36 to 48,) and supposedly “faster” then you won’t have to worry about your ESC. The difference I did notice between the original 36V ESC and the moded 48V that’s made for the XL specifically, is that your upgraded battery from TG doesn’t just looses power when it gets drained (while running at full power from start to the end on original 36V ESC.) It works just as it would on the stock battery, drain slowly (allowing you to know when your battery is about to die.) Also, being “faster” on that upgraded 48V ESC, I wouldn’t say that, in fact it felt a bit faster on the original 36V ESC (on my very first test run with 48V upgraded ESC; I’d have to do few more runs to confirm.) But did last about 20-30min longer on that one test run. Oh and for the moded casters from TG, personally, I was disappointed. Not only that it costs an arm and a leg for just some steel casters. The width only allows you to install limited amount of wheels on ‘em, which are the longboard wheels (cost more,) and like I mentioned earlier can be destroyed during a single batt charge run, which totally blows, because that’s the MAIN reason I went ahead with that option, thinking it will actually last me longer. Not in my case. The TG logos on their casters are a nice touch, but I lost 2 on the same night I tested them (yes, I did go off few sidewalks, hitting the casters hard on the edge,) but they’re supposedly “the last casters you’d ever have to buy,” so I went all out testing them as such. Lost a third one next day. The caster’s themselves seem to take the beating pretty well though, so far. The aluminum original caster wouldn’t take those hits lightly, and did get damaged (got one pretty beat up from one of those hard hits, still able to use it though.) So again, stay on the sidewalk (don’t hit anything) and you won’t have to deal with those issues, with the TG casters or the original. Or drive it rough, and it’s all up to you what you want to do then. Stay with the aluminum stock casters that cost under $20 each from the main source, brand new (if you managed to mess one up,) then deal with finding the best wheels for it, that lasts (which is a pain.) Or get them upgraded ones that cost $200+ then be limited to the size wheels, and their cost (which is a bit more than the latter.) And with my experience, don’t really last much more longer than stock replacement wheels that are out there I’ve tried so far. *Note: Everything I said is based on personal experience, and can and will be different for others. Just to clear that up. Hope the info helps for some of you out there.
