One item that I found incredibly useful during ancient city raids are ender pearls. You can skip past a warden's detection radius in just one lob over the walls and 50% of the time you land somewhere where there are no shriekers to spawn another and even if you do, you just throw another one. It's great for slipping past them too, wardens treats the ender pearls more like projectiles so it alerts them of your general location but it will never truly get to you unless they detect you using one less than five seconds apart.

I dont know if you guys know, but all the chests are in the smaller buildings surrounding outside the outer section. Between the 2nd (inner wall) section and the outer wall sections.
