This video took me by surprise as a football fan.
Damar Hamlin collapsed after a pretty big hit during a game. As the opposition came in for a tackle he lead with his helmet which made a strong connection with Hamlin's chest.
What's CRAZY is that this is so Common American football and the especially the NFL which is so competitive. After standing up from this hit, Damar stood for a second and collapsed.
By the grace of god and the amazing training and fortitude of the INCREDIBLE medical staff on the scene, he was saved and rushed to the hospital where he eventually made a recovery and I believe he even ended uP joining the team in the same season.
Nothing has been said about why he suffered this Heart attack during the game and it is such a SHOCK considering how fit and healthy this man is as an ELITE ATHLETE.

It was commotio cordis that caused his heart attack. Basically he went into cardiac arrest immediately following a blow to the chest. The impact causes a potentially lethal heart rhythm disturbance. It takes a few seconds for the arrhythmia to fully hit the person so to speak which is why he was able to start to continue play before collapsing. The hit has to be directly at the heart during a certain moment in the heartbeat. He just struck REALLY bad luck with that hit and was lucky that CPR was given so quickly! He has no heart conditions that caused it, it was just bad luck and a hit that was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He has been cleared to play since it happened- about 4 months after. Football is a brutal sport with a lot of injuries and clearly, a lot of damage to the heads/brains of players. Hamlins injury was just a very rare one in general; not just on the football field but generally speaking.

I've actually heard of this before and interestingly enough I've always associated it more with baseball for some reason, I don't know why

@@mikeyreacts234 Oh i could actually envision that though with the speed not only that the ball is thrown at a batter and the potential of a weird stance angel causing a hit to the chest but the speed of the ball off the bat and potentially hitting a player and even at times out field collisions when players don't call for a catch etc. I never thought of that before! With football I think we are just so used to focusing much more of our concerns on the hits to their heads!

He had the heartattack and he rehabbed and he played in the 23-24 season and into the post season ❤💙🤍 and yes the hit to the chest caused his heart to stop, the player on the other team who hit him felt so bad about it afterwards that Damar called him and told him that he didn't blame him for the hit and he was doing well. That game was never finished.

yes playing a lacrosse game when i was in highschool a kid on the other team got hit hard in the chest and dropped like this and wasnt able to be saved rip John Mack

This happened 1 month after my stepdad miraculously survived a massive heart attack. My stepdad was dead for 20 mins before they were able to get his heart started back up. Dr said no way he shouldve survived bc he had 1 artery w 100% blockage. 1 w 90% blockage and another w 70% blockage. He survived what they call the “Widowmaker”. So when Hamlin went down like this our whole family felt it 10x harder than we would have. When they were doing chest compressions I got tears.

It happens often to young athletes. I've heard stories for a longgg time about basketball players collapsing and dying and also athletes on the track field dying. Seems to happen to Black men.

The conspiracy theory is he did get a booster shot and many people were suffering from heart attacks after the booster. He was asked about that but wouldn’t comment. Hmmm.

Lol yeah anti vaxxers also told everyone that the vaccine would make people magnetized and glow in the dark and to date no one has gained any super powers. He didnt have a regular heart attack. He got hit between heartbeats. A 1 in a million thing. Its not like the basketball players just dropping.

He got hit in the chest at the wrong moment. It was not a heart attack. It was cardiac arrest. It is rare but it is more common in baseball and lacrosse when players are hit in the chest with a ball. It has nothing to do with the “shot”. Idiot
