I do exactly the same Richy, when I get the bit between my teeth, the tuk tuks and the rest of them have no chance. Sweat bucketing off me, heavy pack on my back, guitar slung on the shoulder, and I just carry on walking. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, what I highly recommend on every trip is to do a little research into where you’re going. I have the Bolt(Asian Uber) app that gives you an exact price, check it out when as soon as you land on shore. Also I sometimes message my accommodation and ask them the real price beforehand. This can save you a least double the cost. Just walk away from the taxi’s that are waiting for you, they’re almost always there to scam you. They will come after you and you will get the real price. You seen this guy within 300yds of me walking away his asking price halved.

I spent a month on the island 2018 mainly on Long beach and loved it, however I have seen other vlogs and they have ruined the beauty of the island with large parts of mass development, I am interested to see your perspective, Had that issue with duel price all over Vietnam, some times walked away other times if a Banh Mi is 20'-25k and locals are paying 15k , I wouldnt worry about it. Good on you for doing that walk, keep it going mate.

Hi Tom, no I don’t like people over charging. I’d already asked my accommodation the real cost. He was charging a ridiculous price more than an air conditioned car. Once people do that they’ve blown it, they won’t get my money. They need to learn to treat visitors to their island better. I’m from Darlington in the North East of England mate, just south of Newcastle.

You'll need a good foot massage after that hike 😃 The funny thing is we can moan about double pricing, but things are still cheap as chips and the locals have next to nothing. I find it annoying, but you have take if on the chin as not a lot you can do about it.
@ParkinsonRaw
@ParkinsonRaw 8 ай бұрын
Thanks Andrew, I am going to start looking at my health more big plans for the future. I tend to just buy from stalls or shops with prices, then you know what you’re paying beforehand. I don’t agree with dual pricing as there are many people in our own countries that are struggling with cost of living/rents/taxesfood price rises etc. But visitors still pay the same price. These people live a simple life but they don’t have these worries to deal with. They have a roof over their head and food in their bellies, so yeah I don’t like being tourist taxed for them reason’s. I’m not being cruel just honest.

Hiya Robert, always good to hear from you mate. Big supporter❤️, the vast majority are, i always say contact your accommodation and ask the real price or download Bolt that's like the Uber of Asia. Then you get an idea of the real cost. From where i was staying Bolt said 66,000 i offered him 100,000 but he wanted 200,000. Thanks mate, I do drop little hints into the odd vlog. To be honest my plans change so much as I get recommendations etc from subscribers. At the moment when I leave the island I’m off to Can Tho, Ho Chi Ming City then heading North. Da Nang and Hanoi are definitely in my plans also. Good choice for a visa run Da Nang mate, cheap flights and it looks like a beautiful City I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve heard on the grapevine Thailand could be introducing a 60 day free visa for us from the UK. We’ll see if that materialises, they change their mind so often. I did a Visa run to Kuala Lumpur, again cheap flights and an amazingly beautiful City. Also visa free for us Brits👍🏻

Bullshit. Where did you learn about these things, from Cambodian history? Do more research and learn more about history to open your mind. This island and Ha Tien were explored and controlled by the Chinese merchant- Mac Cuu in the earliest as 17th century. He then switched his allegiance to the Nguyen lord and annexed this region to the Nguyen's territory. Cambodian king laid claim to these regions but never actually set any administration nor exerted influence, so stop spreading this non-sense things.

Good for you mate for sticking to your guns, got to say Rich about halfway through your walk the clouds were building up, i thought don't piss down on the man he don't deserve it . I didn't comment on your last vlog ,2 things mate ,the sea doesn't look that clean and also what's the situation with mosquitos at night. Also mate the duel pricing throughout Asia is a liberty and leaves a bitter taste, most 1st time travellers don't know their getting ripped off by the person with the big smile giving them the bill, theres another vlogger in Thailand called balloon chaser, he done a vlog on it ,have a look if you get time mate, as always rich onwards and upwards

Thanks Richard, I always carry a plastic rain cover thing for what good they are. The mosquito’s aren’t to bad for me I wear long sleeves and put tracksuit bottoms on a night. Daytime isn’t too bad. I’ll try and watch that mate, I only go to places with prices. Yesterday I went for an ice cream and today I went back and she tried to charge me double the price. She obviously didn’t remember me. I just give her the real price and walked off, she wasn’t happy.

I know the waterproof jacket you've got, 10 baht from 7 11 ,ha ha ,ive brought many over the years, they are handy mate for the price . You commented on the weather in Thailand, today up north it was 11 degrees in the night up the mountains, can't get my head round it that the thais go up there to go camping, but i suppose its a novelty ,it ain't a novelty to me, its 6 months of reality ha ha
