Hello Ann. Thank you for another useful pattern, which is not only easy to produce, but gives an effective look to a knitted item. Just a quick question - could this work for a “patchwork” look to a blanket by picking up the edge stitches so the pattern then runs side on. I hope that makes sense!

Hi Angela! Side stitches are always selvage stitches, so you can actually attach another patch. Not sure if I got you correctly. Let me know please.

@@CrazyHandsKnitting Hello Ann. Thanks for your response, which is helpful and, yes, it does answer my question. I had it in mind that if you, effectively, turned the pattern on its side it would produce a sort of oversized basket weave pattern for the finished item. Doing loads of squares and then sewing them is a bit of a chore, which was why I thought picking up stitches might be easier. I am doing a number of blanket projects at the moment, so having different patterns (like this one) with stop me getting bored - and help reduce my yarn stash! Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it and will look out for your next video. I hope the rest of the week is good for you.
