Cream - Stormy Monday live at Royal Albert Hall, London.
May 2, 3, 5, 6. 1080p
11 of 22
In May of 2005 Cream returned to London's Royal Albert Hall-to the same stage where they had completed what was thought to be their final performance in 1968. It was one of the most eagerly anticipated, hard-to-get tickets in rock history. With the exception of a brief reunion set at their 1993 induction into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, Cream had not played together in nearly four decades. This DVD documents Cream's momentous London shows. Performances from each of the four nights are featured and much more. Also included are alternate performances and interviews with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce, and Eric Clapton. Cream formed in 1966 and disbanded in 1968. The band were a prolific and thrilling live act and toured incessantly in their short but remarkable history.

It’s a blues standard. Albert Collins does a great version too. So do BB King & Bobby Bland, together.

no matter who does this song, it remains to this day a blues classic, whether it's Eric, Bobby Bland, T Bone Walker, or Allman Brothers Band version, it has to be in the top five of all time Blues greats!!! I always perform this song when i sing and play at blues jams, my personal touch is a long harmonica solo in the middle, and i am singing it in memory of my son who died 3 years ago of lukemia.

Maybe it’s just me, but this is old song is even more intense and emotional when you watch the performance on video, as opposed to simply listening to it. Incredible emotion in Eric’s playing , as well as really soulful singing. Years ago singing was his weak link. I remember in the 60’s when he didn’t sing lead much at all; but he turned that totally around, which is very rare. He’s definitely one of the all time greats, as are Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker!

After 50 yrs, these 3 old guys are still showing the young ones what "musical talent" really is. No jumping around the stage, no 20 dancers, no auto tuning, just pure music that make you close your eyes & enjoy for a few minutes. The best parts are the breaks between the notes that make you wait for the next one.

I hear more Freddy King in this than BB. However he learned from all the three kings. The blues is incredible. I can’t imagine what BB and Freddy thought in the 60s when kids from England turned up in Chicago with intricate knowledge of the blues it’s geography and chronology. An album I recommend is Otis Spann “biggest thing since colossus”. The backing band is three parts of the old Fleetwood Mac. Probably my favourite blues album.

This was on Thursday 5th May 2005. A date that'll be stuck in my brain until I pop my clogs, as this was and always will be the absolutely best live concert I've ever been to since I started going to gigs in '69. This is just a more mature version of the band that packed up in '68. I'm generally not a huge Strat freak, but the tone Eric gets from it is just off the face of the planet.

I see a lot of comments on Eric, and jack. However as brilliant and as large of titans they are, Ginger is absolutely holding is own during this song. The man literally has each limb in complete independence during the whole performance and those drum rolls are complete bliss. The man was a menace but a complete force behind the kit, honestly the best player in the group.

I was lucky enough to be there that night - I was 19. My Dad had always felt cheated that he never saw Cream in ‘68, he idolised them. We managed to get two tickets, up in the gods in the RAH, and I didn’t go with him to make up the numbers, I was into Cream. This is the only Thursday cut on the eventual release, the only footage of the show we were at...but it’s the best cut.
