wow its just like oldschool fiber optics. so glad all i have to do these days is use my fusion splicer. anyway just wondering if i could just glue on a SC connector and use my VFL to get a result for demonstration of the way fiber works por people i teach to splice?

Unfortunately this product does not work with a fusion splicer. You could glue on an FC, SC, LC or other types of connectors.

I used EL Wire in a motorcycle jacket, two lengths of 6 feet. I used it as a "piping" around the seams. Too many hits from bugs/debris broke the corona wires inside and caused me to remove it. Will laser wire hold up to this environment? What are it's weaknesses?

It's a very thin wire, so rock chips could have similar issues. However what others will do is add our Commercial Tubing around it which increases the strength exponentially against punctures. You can also add a resin/silicone over the top which will add strength to the jacketing. The minimum bending diameter is 5mm, so make sure that the contours around the edges are more than this. Otherwise, Laser Wire is going to last far longer since there is no phosphor that degrades inside (like EL Wire).

Does the length of the wire affect the brightness? I'm thinking about ordering the 5m wire. If I don't cut it down and use the whole thing does the brightness diminish from the starting point to the end? Does the brightness reduce due to the length at all?

Pumxee the brightness of the wire is dictated by two things; the laser module and the wire itself. There are 3 different profiles of wire; Super Pop, Pop and Accent. These are all indicative of the overall brightness but also the length. Super Pop is the brightest and is used up to 1M in length. Pop is the most common and used in lengths up to 5M. Accent is less bright and used in lengths up to 10M. If the laser module output power is increased, you can increase the brightness of any profile. But to answer your question, if you cut it, the brightness does not increase or decrease, it simply glows to the point where you cut it.

can you use it with a arduino to control the light effects please

hellbound yes, when using the laser module in install mode, you can send a PWM frequency from the Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc to control the on/off/dimming.

Wha the best. El wire or laser wire ?

Laser Wire is going to be anywhere between 4-10x the brightness, more flexible, easier to integrate, no buzzing noise, last substantially longer and have more vibrant colors.

How can we install it in car?

It can be installed into cars quite easily. The wire itself can be laid into crevices or glued into place since the wire is so thin and lightweight. The laser module itself is powered via a 5V USB plug, so many newer cars you can simply plug the module into the USB auxiliary on the dashboard or center console.
