Slew, I have found your channel and watched some videos, but this video has answered so many questions I have been asking myself and here I am. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer other people’s questions and explaining what is important. I consider myself a self taught oil painter artist, but I have to give credit to a couple of people. One for giving me the push to try and the other one for introducing me to the classical style. I bought many videos but some still unopened. I bought great books and they are a wonderful resource, but I realized I don’t want to be like someone else. I want to be me and develop my own style based on what I have read, practiced and continue to learn. I also watch videos from other artist to see their approach and it it is very inspiring. To watch you and listen to what you have to say is very interesting. I saw the video with your interview podcast with Andrew Tischler, a great artist! It is awesome! You are awesome! Thank you again for your sincerity, honesty and the passion you have. It is transmitted a million miles away! And the best part is: I get it! Clear and sound! Been watching a lot of your vids working form home, you've given me inspiration to pull out my art supplies. I aint anywhere close to as good as you, but going ot practice practice practice and experiment with a few things. Got paints, charcoals and so on. I have read Brandon Sanderson and read most of his books on audible. I have also painted a scene from a book, not one he did but ended up taking over when Robert Jordan died. I think a really cool idea to try and do is paint portraits of his characters! The idea of Warbreaker with the colors of the world, that would be pretty sick to paint...

Big fan of fantasy and sci-fi books as well, never read Sanderson (Thinking about starting with the Stormlight Archives this year), but can recommend you The King Killer Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss, very enjoyable reading. I agree the hardest bit is starting an artwork, you get all this prep ready like all the paint and stuff ready and then when you're actually sat in front of the empty surface you get what my art lecturer calls "the white sheet shits" because the empty paper just makes ya brain feel icky

Brandon Sanderson is my literary god! I’m a huge fantasy fan and nobody does it better than him. I’ve only read the Mistborn trilogy but I’m hoping to read the rest of his books this year. I can give you 1000 more book recommendations if you ever want any 🖤
