Though I do not practice Karate, I have the deepest respect for Hutton sensei. His mastery of hardness and softness in his art is what all martial artist should aspire to.

You are Mr. Kime to me. It's just a delight to watch your beautiful techniques! Really great body mechanics. Strong...but strength as a result of relaxation! That's how it's done.

Wow! If traditional karate and TKD instruction started from this philosophy, it would certainly be more relevant in defense and sport today. This is literally the most exciting video on karate that I have ever seen. I trained for years in taekwondo under a respected, internationally known instructor. Though we learned more traditional techniques, he always felt they were useful only for discipline and the static, start/stop principle that you say to avoid was very prominent. He taught more of an MMA style hybrid for any practical applications. I feel there is still a place in real world usage for the techniques you demonstrate here. They simply seem to have fallen by the wayside with instructors that either don't get it or choose not to teach karate with the original intent. Thank you, Sensei.

IMHO this is how karate and all martial arts should be. I'm at a loss to explain where Shotokan, as an example, went down the 'stiff and rigid' way. Certainly none of the top exponents that were sent out from Japan to teach the world were teaching stiffness, in fact quite the opposite.
@diosdadoapias

+Bill Blinky tell that to the japanese in person so that they may show why they are stiff.

His striking philosophy using the whip example is identical to Filipino martial arts. FMA is a bladed art but the blade is just an extension of the hand. Pretty simple really if you think about it.

Quite interesting. Coming from a systema perspective, relaxing more throughout the rest of your body & dropping those large grounding steps would help you a lot. We practice strikes in a similar way in regards to relaxation & heaviness in systema. Though the strikes are more penetrating & can really make a person crumble with surprisingly less effort. Another thing that may surprise you is what you will see/sense once you relax & not lock into fighting the person.

Shotokan meet's Ed Parker American Kenpo...... It's almost like you're getting Okinawan/Chinese with your application of technique. Perhaps I am super wrong, but that's really amazing work either way. Hard styles (I am guilty of studying them) usually are very offended by whipping types of movement. See Kanazawa.

Is the whipping like what Bruce Lee said "flow like water my friend and a kung fu punch is like a ball on a chain , karate punch is like a sledge hammer" BTW a kanazawa punch was better - so go ask Sensei Kanazawa.... The trick is to generate enough power to destroy your enemy in one blow if you hit like heavy ball on a chain. For that you have to be relaxed before and after the hit with the heavy ball ...try it with a tennis ball ... and then do it with yer body with your hand/fist/elbow etc as the heavy ball... the result is devastating .....Sensei kanazawa had a double focus and an extra ordinary focus ...he could any of three wooden boards on demand .... you try doing that ...i have yet to succeed ....THAT is real "focus/concentration of energy or whatever you wana use ..... Only takes 20 years ....lol...

Overall I like the video very much, but the throw at 2:04 needs some significant adjustment to work in a real match (rear foot needs to step much closer inside uke's feet, no more long karate stance), but the idea & kazushi are right. Done as shown you will never get a throw out of it, though you may be able to shove them face down.

M. D'Avanzo before you go critiquing somebody how about you send me a personal video or put a video up online of you showing exactly what you're talking about when just words by itself versus demonstration physical are implemented it's almost more impractical than what you're trying to get across with the point everything that he does is perfect 100% in everything that you say makes herself look even more like a hater and a terrible person and a loser I don't like people like you and I love people like since they were cutting everything I see him do fantastic everything I hear or read you say stupid
@theredninja2817
@theredninja2817 6 жыл бұрын
M. D'Avanzo better yet you can just demonstrate that on me we can meet in person and you can show me exactly what you're talking about cuz I'll bet you all that you're trying to say and everything that you're trying to come in on when it comes into motion and someone chooses you off in a real situation you are the first person be quick to coward away and run off and get scared Peter Pants and cry to the cops cuz I guarantee you if I come at you there's no way you'd be able to do the thing that you say you can but I know for a fact that we're cutting could totally back up what he says

M. D'Avanzo by the way I see your little videos that you have posted up keep in mind I only see the people in the video competing I see you in the background filming and talking sounding like a complete nerd here's the situation the person who likes to critique someone else and do a lot of bragging about how they go flying in the air and have someone else practices something on them and bragging usually they have something that they have to compensate for I can see that weakness in you so here's the deal since you're a judo fighter or whatever martial artist you're trying to portray by the way your talking to a black belt 2011 winner National Champion with a metal to prove it and the ability to back it up among other martial arts that I've taken so to you for real fight on KZfaq whatever you know forces whatever I know and I'm going to post this Challenge online that I'm speaking to you and mention exactly what you're doing I'm going to look up your name and find out where you're located I'm going to come and see you I'm going to let everyone else know about what kind of person you are and what you do because people like you or what ruined martial arts you be careful because someone's going to call you out on your bluff portray yourself to be and I am not guy watch yourself because it's on and anything you say other than yes I accept your challenge get ready for me I'm coming for you

M. D'Avanzo so okay Coach Matt I know who you are and where you teach and about your Martial Arts Style so let me let you know a little bit about myself I have been in martial arts for longer than you've been alive and I have a personal Vendetta against people who do not like to show respect to other people in their martial arts school who want to publicly criticize and critique someone now I see you have videos but all I see is you bragging about what you did or what you don't do on your video see there's people like you who make martial arts look bad when someone told me that on KZfaq there's people in a comment section who makes stupid comments about other people trying their best to show what they know or that they're experts and they're trying to teach it really upset me so what I decided to do was start issuing a challenge to someone who makes that comment well wouldn't you know it people back down so seems like you know your stuff or at least you pretend like you know your stuff since studying in 1990 in karate well guess what I've been doing martial arts for years old that's all I'm going to tell you I'm willing to show you besides any video any KZfaq comment be looking forward to hearing my phone call about you at your dojo this coming week for I will publicly issue a challenge to you and we will either stop you from making stupid comments and learn more respect towards other martial artist who are trying to get the word out there on how to teach or you and I actually have a public KZfaq fight where I will humiliate you online so everyone can see what it's like when someone talks crap and doesn't back it up let me know what you're interested in because I'm 100% serious
