A lot of people do not realize how important Mike Matei is for AVGN/Cinemassacre
@JsRetroVideoGames5 жыл бұрын
I think most of the true fans know how important Mike is to the show. Most of the newbies probably don't know who Mike is because he's not really seen in the AVGN episodes.

Wow, think about it, had it not been for Mike, most of us probably wouldn't have subscribed to the Cinemassacre channels. You probably wouldn't even be looking at my or any other comment talking about it on here now that I think about it. I probably wouldn't have talked about it ever really.

@fab16048 жыл бұрын
Exactly, Mike pushed James to keep doing the Nerd videos, to upload them on the internet, etc.
@electricmastro8 жыл бұрын
That was probably a thing for the longest time. The idea it was just James doing all of this, while not knowing it was Mike who created the channel and convinced James to make more videos. Like if you asked any Nerd watcher back in 2006 who MIke of Cinemassacre was, they'd probably ask, "Who is this Mike fellow?"

This was really interesting! I've always wondered how Mike's role effected AVGN and this explains a lot. I remember a few years ago people would accuse Mike of "riding on James' success", which is hilarious now knowing how much work he's done in the background. I thought it was funny when he talked about how they needed to keep the website and channel going and James basically just waited for Mike to suggest doing his own videos lol. Which were awesome, btw!
@gus0518 жыл бұрын
Yeah I remember seeing those comments

Turkey Hill Peach Tea represent! I like the evolution that Cinemassacre has taken, they found a way to approach LPs in a way that still benefits via their skills in editing and information, as well as maintaining their humor. Bootsy's soothing walkthrough of Battletoads was nice as well.

I do remember when Mike was "new" as he face of Cinemassacres video's for a time; the videos were a bit rough with him at the helm but they were good, the hate was present and a bit overblown, but now he's an accepted mainstay for the channel. And for the better I say.

I must admit that Mike Matei has come a long way. As most, I also didn't know what to think about his video creations at first during James's absence. But his personality has grown on me. I especially like watching some of his live streams. It is rare to have such talented and well liked guys like the Cinemassacre people whom seem to have such dedication and talent besides being such good friends as seen in their videos. I truly hope that their success continues for many more years to come.

@ParaholiX8 жыл бұрын
Mikes had good intentions and knew that in today's time you cant just abandon your channel for 6 months as it could easily be forgotten with the over saturation in the gaming category. Every category for that matter. I'm not part of a gaming channel but we've added that content into it to fill in the gaps when we cant do our channels priority content which is investigating. It's taken since '12 when we started it to reach the 550 subs we have now. Plus, investigating at well known places isn't free. Our investigation next weekend is costing $500. Not including gas and food. Now if we can get James and Mike to Retropallooza!

props to Mike. He is really a backbone of AVGN. all the title cards, back up work etc just for friendship (when someone has a goofy idea to do something, would you as a friend jump in just to do it... Not too many would do so much work for it). To clarify: James have done a huge work himself, and Mike obviously has helped a lot during different stages of where they are now.

Its crazy to think that Mike is so humble to know that the audience wants to see James and wants to help him but James knows how important Mike is and wants his best friend to be on screen as well. It's clear they just want to have fun and build their life around delivering entertainment. Especially after 10 years, they know what their roots are and have stuck to it. A great example of "if it's not broke, why fix it?"

Mike is a pretty funny guy who doesn't nearly get the amount of credit and respect that he deserves. If it weren't for him, we probably wouldn't have the Angry Video Game Nerd (at least beyond the original few videos) and subsequently all the people that James inspired with his show. KZfaq would be a very different place. If it weren't for AVGN, I probably wouldn't have found Pat's videos and became a fan of his work.
