Per Wikipedia, Cotton paper, also known as rag paper or rag stock paper, is made using cotton linters (fine fibers which stick to the cotton seeds after processing) or cotton from used cloth (rags) as the primary material.

Oh, I'm glad you look that up it. I thought it was just cotton made from rags. Diana might ask Meeden for more information? ... although I suspect it's another company that's making the paper.

Diane, I love watching your videos. It feels like a massive community here on you tube of people supporting artists like yourself. I came across 2 lil owls a few weeks ago myself and find Denise's energy so uplifting also. Your 2nd background ( the one of the landscape) looked like a mountainside to me with brightly coloured sunset in the orientation you started drawing the houses at the top. It's so pleasing to watch you bring an image out of the paper and the useful info I glean from you with things such as the "cotton rag" paper. Hope you find out more, I'm intrigued. I'm new to watercolour and have started painting since the beginning of this year, when I get a chance, as I'm suffering some illnesses that make painting difficult at times. Thank you for providing these lovely videos. They keep me going in the difficult times. 😊

Just a quickie, I have learnt another way of making art... from you. I am used to working with pastels in a realistic style which I love, but watercolour has always been alien to me so jarring for my precision gene. But through your channel I've made lovely paintings of birds, creatures and floral inspired themes. My daughter in law has even asked me paint her a family/our family represented by your wonderful birds . That will be fun trying to impart a personality to each of us - tongue in cheek! Thank you for the inspiration you give and professional techniques Diane . x

Lol, I was picking up some art supplies at an estate sale and the woman asked me if I sold my art. I told her "no, I'm not a real artist, I just do this to relax and make things for family/ friends." My son pulled me aside and kind of chewed me out. He told me I absolutely am an artist and reminded me that I do art everyday. That doing shows and selling art isn't what makes a person an artist and having a day job doesn't erase what you truly are.
@DianeAntoneStudio
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Yes, I understand your son’s point completely and I agree. My daughter says similar things to me but yesterday she kinda hit the nail on the head for me when she said that you can be an artist but you aren’t necessarily one 24/7. That there are times when you are a mother first, or a nurse, or a teacher, and artist takes a back seat. And this can happen on a daily timeframe, or over a lifetime. I might say of myself, I have an artist’s soul which underlies all the other facets of who I am. This is a complex subject and deserves much discussion. - don’t you think?

I liked the rocks before the doodling. Such interesting shapes & sizes. We have lots of rock walls in Maine. It was farmers way of marking their land mostly.

Actually....please don't start using stencils. It will only disrupt the true nature of your beautiful art. No offense to those who use stencils. I do myself. But I love you the way you are.

Hi Susan, don’t worry, I don’t plan to use stencils for the channel!!! That takes things into the “craft” or mixed media realm and I want to keep the channel more in the watercolor realm! I have used stencils a little bit for furniture upcycling and enjoyed making my own but I’m not really that into the pre-made ones… we don’t have access to the amazing supplies over here that you have in places like Michaels and Hobby Lobby etc…

"to put a cap" on something is to place a limit on it. "I have to put a cap on the amount that I can spend on a car." "I need to put a cap on the amount of time that I spend at work." I believe that some might expand that to mean 'put an end to'. So if someone said to put a cap on lying - it would/should/might mean 'put an end to lying'. Similar phrases employing the word 'cap' could mean something quite different and it seems that 'cap' is an urban term for 'lying/bragging/exaggerating'. But it appears that it's used as 'no cap' as in 'no lie' or 'no joke' or 'for real'. (word nerd here...)

That's really interesting. I'm glad you looked that up. My understanding is that 'put a cap on it' might mean stop your moaning or you're going too far with something. For example, if you open the bottle and there is a smell coming out, you'd put a cap on it.

That’s the meaning which I thought it had. But it’s changed recently apparently. Urban slang - it’s beyond me comprehension!

Glad you enjoyed it! Do you mean because it’s in French? No English subtitles, and I don’t watch French tv. I read the newspapers sometimes in French, and check the news online sometimes. I can understand quite a lot of French x

DVDs aren't necessarily playable from country to country - you'd have to check what format the DVD is in and/or what kind of DVD player you have.

Sigh, too late! I just placed my first order with them! They lured me in with the small Academy 5 x 7 watercolor pads for $5. I got a bookbinding sewing kit for $5, 12 piece bee honeycomb stencil set for $3.38, some empty 12 grid watercolor tins... but I realized I had to quit when I bought a banana shaped canvas handbag for the art supplies.
