I like lemonade, I’m not much of a tea drinker. When my daughter got married years ago, I made regular lemonade, a raspberry lemonade and a lavender lemonade. They were a hit, and I’m thinking for me, herbal lemonades would be something I would enjoy. Shalom.

Vanilla beans, hint from the Seychelles where many come from, store them standing upright in a jar with organic brown sugar as a base. Mine have lasted many years that way. And when your beans are used up, the sugar is infused with the vanilla too.

I've foraged, grown, and bought herbs since about 1971. I have a nice little apothecary. We used to buy a commercial brand of "stress tea", which is no longer stocked in local markets. I developed my own blend. Decaffeinated green tea, lavender, and chamomile. It's the blend my fella will drink. I always have a pitcher chilling in the fridge.

Funny, I would do the same. I have a mystery dehydrated herb. I'm almost sure it is cilantro, and it's a mystery because the I lost the little paper that was in the drying rack when I dried it. I think I will put it in the chicken feed, but need to make sure it won't hurt them first. Otherwise compost time.

If you haven't tried Sweet Woodruff, you HAVE TO! I thought I had 2 patches of Cleavers (sticky weed) and to my surprise, one patch was not "sticky". Turns out it's Sweet Woodruff. We were drinking some of my spring tonics (fizzy soda type) and we couldn't figure out the cinnamon taste when I didn't add any. Well, it was the Sweet Woodruff! So good!! (btw....I'm not writing down what I put in each so of course the guys say "Make this kind again"....and ha....no clue which is which. smh) My borage seeds that I got from you are doing great and can't wait to try it. Chinese peppers are finally able to hang out outside....warm weather here FINALLY! This is an EXCELLENT video - above and beyond because I'm in the process of making all these fizzy drinks. And now I just realized it's Friday....See you Monday my friend!! God bless and have a wonderful weekend!!

@@jeannemalaxos534 yes. They can be grown indoors. You just won't get as much new roots. You'll get more stalks & leaves. Fresh cut they make good teas as well. You'll need some sort of plant light. The best kind have a multiple light range. Many North East Dr offices actually have ginger plants in their offices. Google ginger leaves for an idea what they look like. Be aware, because of the light difference they won't be as strong but they will still be delicious.

I use a blend of licorice, ginger,and use peppermint essential oil,1 drop or 2 added when I have a stomachache. The peppermint oil is food grade. I also like marshmellow leaves. I also drink the dandeloin tea and hibiscus teas. Mostly if I have a stomachache or in the winter to stay warm. I made some chamomile tea from fresh leaves the other day. I add my raw honey to all teas for a bit of sweetness.

God bless you too, Heidi ❤️. Since subscribing to your channel, I’ve been foraging, dehydrating, adding to my herb garden and drinking lots of herbal teas. I like to use certain herbs as bases (stinging nettle, red and white clover, mullein, Passion flower, catnip, etc.) and then add my flavorful herbs like wild chamomile (pineapple weed), mints, thymes, lemon balm, etc. and homegrown stevia or local raw honey to sweeten. I’ll also add citrus peels, pine needles and dried berries. One of my favorites is stinging nettle with lemon thyme and stevia. 😋

Good morning, Heidi. I love herbal teas. Lately, I'm enjoying ginger with roobios and orange peels with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg. Or any/all of them. Hoping to get some 🍓 leaves this year before they go by for the year. My feverfew & marshmallow seeds I got from you are still going strong. The borage, I think the deer got them all. Lol. Have you ever tried drying rhubarb stalks to add to tea??? My elderberries seem to have been overrun by poke salad. I've started using my asparagus pot to make tea. I get more than a half gallon that way. I can keep some to drink & still fill 3-4 quart jars and fridge for quick refreshment. Yes. I can attest that citrus peels decocted in tea helps with arthritis pain & inflammation.

Wondering what herbs would mix well with Moringa leaves?
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead Ай бұрын
I would say anything with a strong flavor as moringa is similar to strawberry leaves in the green flavor they have

Do you dry your orange mint and lemon balm
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead Ай бұрын
Yes, I do for use during the winter though I do not put up as much of it as I do peppermint as I prefer using both of them fresh as they are coming in. I do also dry lemon balm to add to chicken feed for the benefits though

My favorite tea is one i buy premade that uses cinnamon and pepper, but I'm not sure how to diy it. Would i use cinnamon sticks and peppercorns, or would i use the ground varieties?
@RainCountryHomestead

You can either but whole pieces means less bits in your tea

I have a dumb question! I am new to growing elderberries. Do the flowers become the berries? Or are they separate?

This is about herbal infusions. Are you referring to the fermented "soda"? If so, yes, you can.

Heidi, since you brought up back walnut hulls again I have a question. Let me start by saying another lady I follow, whom I believe to be very knowledgeable as well said, black walnut hulls are "ivermectin". What is your knowledge of that?
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead Ай бұрын
Likely what she meant is it works like Ivermectin not that it IS Ivermectin since Ivermectin is a lab created pharmaceutical

Yes I am sure that is what she meant. I wish I would have had that knowledge 3 years ago ☺️
