Actually plastic welding it again would also do this no need for the holes but I guess it makes the video longer.

It's not necessary to drill the holes to prevent the cracks from spreading. Since you are repairing the cracks, there should be no further stress at those points. It would only make sense if you didn't make the repair.

How do ye fix the topside so crack is invisible? In the past I've used wax paper held down by painter's tape. Then fold wax paper back over painter's tape then tape the folded wax paper down with another piece of tape. This folded edge follows one side of crack. The I do same thing for other side of crack. Next I score the crack itself twice with a sideways razor blade so the crack is a v-shaped groove. Then I fill it with thinned ("watery") CA adhesive (eg: crazy glue). If it's a deep crack, I fill with multiple thin layers with each layer allowed to dry first before applying next layer. After filling, I let dry completely before removing taped paper. Next is to scrape the CA with a razor blade sideways with edge flat against surface of work area to shave the built up CA repair down to be flush with surface. Then if it's a gloss plastic surface, I sand down to with finer and finer grade sandpaper until smooth. If it's rough plastic, I just scrape/shave down to level of surface tops. Then I'll score repair area with the tip of razor with blade almost flat so blade edge follows the rough surface on one side of repair. Beyond that I do not try to mask the repair further because I do not know of any better way. Is there a better way?

Cable ties are made of polyamide, and you are trying to fix a crack in polypropylene part. You should use the correct plastic for the repair, otherwise it will definitely not last.

Generally great idea's. The fact you didn't chamfer the edges to make a more secure bond did trouble me a bit. That and using Plastic zip ties to add in material. Seems to me those parts were from fairing or the like which are comprised of ABS Plastics. ABS has superior strength and flexibility, and you can accomplish the same thing with ABS Sheets cut into strips for those welds. Now as far as the front side the crack is visible. Chamfer the middle of the crack, make a charcoal powder to add in (matches the plastic but not required, baking soda also works if you are going to paint it anyway) drip by drip add in the super glue on top of you media used, then add more media and build it up ever so slightly. This is very sandable for painting projects and VIOLA you have a fix more stable with the steel wool on the backside. I will be using your idea's on a fairing fix of my own....THANK YOU.

@@creationholic101 You do the repairs from the inside or back surface. Her question is: what if only the front surface is accessible?

Unless you have studied the specific gases that a particular plastic will produce when heated, never use these techniques. At the very least, you must have a fume hood with exhaust outside the building. Plastic can produce carcinogens when heated. Be knowledgeable or toss it and buy new.
