I have a triangle shawl, that I made with crochet, that I like to wear around my waist with leggings. have the middle/point one one side, cross the arms of the shawl at the other side, then pin or tie to make a skirt like wrap. Mine is made with worsted weight yarn, but I'm sure that you'd get better drape with a thinner shawl.

Hey I just saw this for the first time and that was very informative. I like shawls but I have a hard time thinking outside the box. This video really helped.

I have seen pretty decorated chop sticks at stores that sell hair products and asseccories for black and Latina women who have very thick hair. You can use those instead of the plain ones for holding your shawl in place. They come in packs of two's for holding a large bun in place. That way you can keep one in your purse for emergencies. Ooh this is so useful.. I've just crocheted two shawls following the same pattern, different wool & each time they bunch around the neck & are so long at the back. . I love the way you've done back tying, that's what I was aiming for, now, thanks to you I can!!

I am currently knitting a triangular shawl. It started as a scarf but loved the Hook Nook Yummy yarn so much I decided to keep going until I run out. Not much for knitting with black but the color is called “Little Black Dress” and I can’t wait until it’s done so I can try all these beautiful ideas! Especially the chop stick trick! Very Cool!

As a beginner I made my first shawl in Aran weight unfortunately I ran out of yarn and it has now been discontinued but I can now see it working in different ways. The point sits just below my shoulder blades so I can use it as a scarf or a kerchief so glad it won’t be wasted.

Instead of a shawl pin (which I didn't know was a thing until right now,) I have used one of those hait holders that has a rod that goes through a curvy piece.

How do you wrap the shawl like Claire in Outlander? It seems like the triangle is in the back and the 2 points make an X in the front and somehow attach in the back. Is it just knotted in the back?
